Because I ended up back in the castle 3 days after being released, I'd pay very close attention to the advice of these ladies. My doc didn't give me any real instructions about what I should and should not eat and they thought I had a bowel obstruction. My advice is to load up on soft foods and fruit. I found that an apple a day plus 3 Colace pills every morning and lots of liquids finally helped me in the poop department. Keep a bottle of Milk of Magnesia on hand too just in case you need some extra help. Someone else suggested Benefiber....a spoonfull in whatever you're drinking evidently works and it has no taste or consistency.

Good luck to you!

I lived on green tea with chopped ginger and honey . It was good hot OR cold. Broth, too. I found I was pretty nauseated in the first week or two, and certainly not physically up to preparing meals for myself (my DH doesn't cook, that's normally my job...but he does do laundry ).

A good quick meal: a box of good chicken broth...boil some spaghetti or noodles in water. Add them to the chicken broth. Chop some spinach and put into a bowl. Crack an egg and scramble it, pour slowly into boiling soup. Add the juice of half a lemon and pour over the spinach (this will cook it). Yummy, healthy, and oh so easy when you're not up to cooking!

Good luck to you. The fast foods, especially in those first gassy weeks, can be miserable and do nothing to help your body heal! If you really cannot cook, won ton or Thai soup or noodles from your local delivery/takeout place may be the way to go...

Atleast you have a sense of humour Knitbabe!! I usually use my microwave for storing the bread. Good place for chips though! Seriously, I'm going to listen to the sisters and eat a very soft food and liguid diet. They've been through it and that helps us know what to avoid. And we still don't have to cook. Soft food comes in boxes and cans!! Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you do
