I'm having a hysterectomy at age 20 on Monday and have no idea what to buy for afterwards. Any ideas? Now I'm freaking out. List would help

Re: Hysterectomy on Monday, no supplies!
comfy new pjs, robe, slippers.
good easy snacks to keep at bedside when you get home
a cup with a lid & straw for bedside
comfy panties for after, some suggest one size larger
I bought a bed trey to be able to eat the first few meals in bed
books if you read (I borrowed from friends), magazines, subscription for Netflix or amazon prime to watch stuff because after a few days there is nothing on TV.
stool softners & gas x... they will be your best friends post op
heating pad and ice packs to alternate.. amazing how helpful they are... I am calling my heating pad my new bestie!!
Yoga pants.. these were a must - luckily I already had some but they are great for lounging around the house in and if you need to go out they don't look too bad vs going out in public in your pjs
something non carbonated you like to drink.. I have been drinking tons of gatoraid. need to have plenty of fluids so you don't get constipated.
I downloaded some silly games on my phone to play when I was bored at hospital - great distraction during pre-op and when I was waiting to be discharged.
If I think of more I will let you know...
If you look on the pre op link I believe there is a list of suggestions, which I probably got most of my ideas from.

You will need (some may be repeats from above):
- prepared meals in the freezer
- sweat pants, or loose fitting clothes of some kind
- DVDs, light reading
- blankets and pillows in a recovery corner
- small pillow to hold against your tummy for coughs, sneezes, and pet visits (if applicable)
- large pillow to drape over you during sleeping for pet visits (if applicable)

Deep breath... I know this is overwhelming. Do you have some help? Can a family member stay with you?

Re: Hysterectomy on Monday, no supplies!
another thing.... laptop or smart phone so you can come to this site every time a question pops up afterwards!! Seriously, ive been on here round the clock for the last two weeks...
- pen and pad to keep at your bedside & log when you take meds, I was so tired & in & out of it the first few days that I wrote everything down, that way when I woke up I could look and see that it was almost time for motrin, ,or if pain got really high I could look and see oh, duh, slept through last dose of pain meds.. .and sometimes, nope, only took meds half hour ago, haven't kicked in yet... I almost wish I still did it because now im at two weeks out & I get up early to get son on bus & then go back to sleep & when I wake back up I don't always remember if I took my motrin... luckily not needing the pain meds any more

Re: Hysterectomy on Monday, no supplies!
Prune juice seems to be working for me to keep me regular, it tastes awful but is worth it to avoid pain!! I love my grabber tool to pick up stuff off floor. Take an eye mask and earplugs into hospital if you are a light sleeper. Also lozenges as you can often get a tickle in your throat and it really hurts to cough. Good luck! Hope it sorts out your dramas and you feel like a new woman! Xx

Re: Hysterectomy on Monday, no supplies!
- satiny jammies really help moving around in bed
- stock ice in freezer for the ice bag. add a little salt and if you live somewhere cold you can keep the bag outside in between icing. I just have someone break it up a bit before I use it
- new washcloths are nice for the shower, so they're soft
- an extension cord for powering up phone, or a backup battery so you can keep devices close
- a small tote to hold meds, snacks, book, backscratcher. I pull the tote on the bed when needed and keeps everything from getting flung all over bedside table
