Hyperplasia at 26 on Megace, Questions And Concerns

K.. thanks... just wondering when I get to stop this crazy drug..

An article on women succeeding with Megace.. well, you'd have to have access to a medical library. I had a friend who did, and faxed me some of the latest research.

Obstetrics and Gynecology magazine... Volume 102, No. 4, October 2003, pages 718-725.... Title: "Outcome of Fertility-Sparing Treatment with Progestins in Young Patients with Endometrial Cancer"...

This study was done on women with ACTUAL cancer, not just hyperplasia, and many of them went on to have children, so I'd say the chances are good for us!

Hyperplasia at 26 on Megace, Questions And Concerns

Hi Again,

A woman wrote to me asking if I knew of any successful pregnancies after treatment w/Megace for early stage cancer (which you know is worse than hyperplasia), so I decided to make an area on a page on my website about success stories (meaning deliveries of healthy babies )

If you would like to read some stories, you can click the www button to the left and check the Links page.

Hyperplasia at 26 on Megace, Questions And Concerns

Hi everyone!

I am new to this group. I would like to say thanks for all the information that you have posted. Now I don't feel like I am the only one my age.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphnodes) 4 days before my 18th birthday. I won that battle with chemotherapy and determination.

I am now 25 and in November, 2003 I was diagnosed with Complex Hyperplasia w/atypia. I was put on Provera for 8 months and 2 weeks ago I had an endo biopsy. My results were not what I wanted to hear. My doctor told me that it acutally got a little worse she now calls it Stage 1A Cancer. Since Tuesday, June 15, 2004, I have been taking Megace and need to continue for 3 months and then she will do another endo biopsy. My doctor told me this is the last thing to see if it works other wise I will have to have a hysterectomy.

Next week I am having a MRI done and the week after I have an appointment for a second opinion, by suggestion of my doctor.

Hi 2ndTime,

I'm glad to hear that you're giving the Megace a chance.
I was offered Provera too, but I didnt take it. I felt that the Megace would allow more of an even dosage.
Good Luck! : )
