Hi Hotspuds,
Yes, not passing gass or bowels can cause pain in stomach and inside where the surgery was performed. I started using Metamucil and stool softeners and my bowels starting moving slowly. I'm still using Vicodin becuase I'm still very tender and they can constipate you (pain pills). Belly swelling is very common. I just ordered the Belly Swelly Band here on this site. Hope it will help.

So sorry to hear of your vision loss. You know, I noticed my vision is a lot more blurry since surgery. I have to wait one month postop to see my OB/GYN. Maybe I should get my blood levels checked! I noticed on top where it says Join Date, Posts, Hysterectomy, yours shows August 11, but then you said you had your surgery on September 11. Maybe change your profile?

I started to walk about 6 blocks a few days ago and noticed that set me back. Everyone is different with what they can tolerate and the kind of surgery they had. I'm going to take it easy until I heal more.

Take care everyone, and hugs!

Hi all! My surgery was Sept 12th. Feeling better, except for stomach aches all the time. I'm trying to take it easy but I get so bored at home. The pain isn't too bad during the day but at night my incision feels swollen and hurts. My hip bones really start hurting and I have a hard time sleeping.

Hello Ladies,

J Goldenbaum I'm so sorry to hear about your vision. I sure hope they can do something to help you. That is a terrible thing to have happen. My blood count was low after surgery as well. Not low like yours. I go back this Friday to get my blood drawn again to have it ckecked. The only reasaon they knew it was low was because my blood pressures was so high at home after surgery that I went to the GP for a check and they did a blood test then. They didn't test my blood after surgery in the hosp. I think they should check things more carefully before the release anyone. I had an LAVH and ovaries out on 9/11 and was out of the hosp. in one day on 9/12. My bleeding is slowing down now. I must of tore my stitches during the week. That really scared me. I hope I'm on the mend. I hope J Goldenbaum that they can somehow help you.

I had red bleeding after doing too much after 2 weeks of surgery. It was brown and light before that. I've been resting for a few days and it seems to be helping. I hope it slows for you too Socks04.

All the best,

Hi Ladies,

I had my surgery on Sept 13. This is the first chance I've had at getting on the computer.

I was suppose to have problems with my uterus...fibroids, and my left ovary...at least 3 cysts of concern.

At my pre-op visit, my ob/gyn decided we needed to change from Laprascopic surgery to Abdominal surgery...so we changed it.

During the surgery, my uterus was found to be full of fibroids but my left ovary was fine...no cysts. Turns out my Left Fall. tube was huge - 5 times bigger than my ovary - that's very large considering our Fall. tubes are very, very small. It was filled with endometriosis - wrapped up inside like a ball of yarn. So, she removed my uterus, Left Fall. tube and my cervix. I did have an infection in my cervix that we didn't know I had. I got to keep both ovaries.

The day after surgery, my Dad died. That was a Very hard time....still is. The doctor released me Sat morning even tho I had a slight fever. My family knew I couldn't go anywhere that night, so they loaded up all the food and came to my house so I could be apart of the family gathering.

Sunday evening I went to visitation, then the funeral on Monday. Very tiring days filled with grief and sadness.

On Tues I had a doctor visit to get my staples removed and to check my fever. My incision and an area about 2 " out was very red. She put me on antibiotics to try and head off any infection. Told me to call immediately if the fever reached 101. She called and checked on me a few days later.

But, each day I seemed to be getting worse.....little by little. My temp was all over the board - from 97.0 to 100.8 , never knew what it would be - changed minute by minute.

I really didn't seem to be "sore" from the surgery. It was my back, hips and head that hurt soooo bad. Finally on Sunday morning, my husband cooked breakfast and I couldn't even hold my head up to eat. I had to prop it up and "try" to eat. I had no appetite - none. I took a warm shower and gosh that felt sooo good. After I dried my hair, I was freezing, so I went and laid down on my bed and covered up. I stayed there for 3 hours. I finally felt like getting up - took my temp and it was 102.5.

I called the hospital and was told to get up there. By the time we got there, my temp was down to 100.2.....Crazy!!!

Anyway, they pumped me full of antibiotics and had to re-open the incision - about 1/4" from the bottom. They finally released me on Wed. I'm still on antibiotics by mouth. Turns out my incision was infected but I also had a bladder infection. My white blood count was 20,000 when I got to the hospital - normal is 4,000-10,000. I was sick!!!

I do seem to be getting better each day. I still have a little fever occasionaly, but not like before. I still have some vaginal bleeding - ready for that to stop! My incision is still draining some.

But overall, I'm doing better.

I have a check up Tues - I'll get a copy of my pathology report then. I'm curious as to what all they did find and what it's called when they did surgery. I know she told me, but there's a lot I don't remember.

Hope everyone else has had a better recovery than me! Good luck to all!!!

Glad to hear everyone is on a good recovery.... I am doing better pain wise but occasionally I'll feel a twinge of pain, today my back is my culprit along with my MIL. LOL

Think my MIL is getting the best of my emotions... I'm starting to regret having her here eventhough she is a big help to me and DH. She's pulling at my stings of emotion... one second I'm cool as a cucumber but theres the little things that she does to just drive me nanners...

Yesterday I got out and did some stamping (card making) with a friend and it was wonderful to get out of the house. Energy is so so... Sleep, still non-existent.... But I just guess that things will get better in the long run...

Cheers! and Keep Smiling!

I have been posting in the wrong post-op group

I had my surgery on the 11th of September and had been posting accidentally in another group
A fellow sister alerted me to my error--Have been doing fairly well after getting over the initial constipation upon coming home. I live in a 2 story house and had planned to stay upstairs but after a few days and an unresponsive teen daughter, I decidied to go downstairs and get myself something to eat.
It seems that after I nap, I wake up voraciously hungry and can't wait to eat. My doctor said it was okay to go up and down the stair as long as it felt okay to me--so I have been doing that very carefully. My husband was going to take pff for 4 weeks but after 2 weeks, he went back to work. He has repeatedly told me that he thinks I have a low threshold for pain !!!!

Other than that, I really have few complaints except that I just don't have all of my energy back and I find that to be very frustrating. I become easily tired, then I sleep, the I wake up extremely hungry, so I eat, then I'm happy, then I get sleepy again and tak a a nap. Basically, that is the cycle I am now experiencing. I run my own business and I find the lack of energy to be most frustrating to me because I am usually on the go with a very hectic schedule between my 2 children and my real estate business.

Just to recap-I was supposed to have a supracervical laparoscopic partial hysterectomy procedure and ended up having to have a bikini cut incision with uterus and fibroid (s) removal. I had received injections for 3 months to shrink my fibroids but apparently not enough shrinkage had occurred for the less invasive procedure to occur. I had a lot of pain while in the hospital and and had to stay an extra day or so. I continue to have trouble stayong asleep at night due to hot flashes and then feeling cold. That really wears on me as I have never had so much trouble sleeping as I have since right before and after my surgery.

Thanks and good luck everyone !

Still Bleeding

Hi All,

I've been taking it very easy and wish the red bleeding would stop. It's not terrible but it seems to slow and then I pass a clot and starts heavier again. I guess if I don't stop soon I'll call the doctors office again.

Don't have much pain, which is nice or bladder problems. I'm off the blood pressure meds. and my blood pressure is normal now. Don't know if anyone had that experience where your blood pressure is high after surgery. I've never had high blood pressure before. Anyway I seem to be passed that now. I do go back to the cardio one more time on Mon. to have it checked again.

Another thing is that I feel more irritable. Don't know if that is do to surgical menopause or just recovery. I wonder if anyone else is feeling this way too.

Well, hope you all have a good day.
