had mine 3 weeks ago
hi there, i had a tvh on the 21st of feb, im 28yrs old smoke 5 or so a day and am pretty fit with the gym and running after 2 young kids.
i was pretty nervous and worried about the surgery and chose to do it vaginally as i didnt want a scar and i knew the healing would be easier! i came home after 2 days, and was off the drugs as soon as i could. 10 days later i drove the car, i am now back to normal apart from being a little tired at the end of long days. the most frustrating thing is not being able to engage in night time activities.
if you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a private email!
hope this will help!

Vaginal Hysterectomy
Hi...I had a TVH on 1-1-6-07 and had absolutely no problems. Surgery took about an hour and I was released around 1pm the next day. A little sore, but able to do alot for myself. Pain meds for abotu a week, mainly at night. I was released to resume ALL activity including sex at 5 1/2 weeks. Since I'm a stay at home mom, I can't answer the work question.
Best of luck to you and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Vaginal Hysterectomy
I had TVH with a spinal on Feb 20 and had no problems at all. When I thawed out, I was in a bit of pain but nothing that wasn't managable. Thank God for pain killers. The operation lasted about 1 hour all together. I went home the following day...by choice. After I got home, I only took the meds for one day and haven't had anything since. The only thing that bothered me is not being able to do my usual day to day routine. I actually miss doing housework!!!! I'm really glad not to have had my belly cut open. It really wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. Good luck....

Vaginal Hysterectomy
Hi there! I was scared out of my mind before surgery but it was sooo much easier than I ever imagined. I'm 31 and I had a total vaginal hysterectomy plus removal of my left ovary. The first day was painful but manageable with my pain medicine, the second day was uncomfortable but not that bad. Then the next few days I was a little slow moving and a little tender, but I definitely did not feel like I had just had a major surgery. I took pain meds for the first 3 to 4 days after surgery and haven't had any since. I starting driving 1 week from surgery - since I wasn't taking pain pills Dr said it was okay. I've had light spotting since surgery but barely enough for a panty liner. At 2 1/2 weeks out I feel normal - except that I don't lift over 10 to 15 lbs (not supposed to for 6 wks). I'm not taking any chances on messing anything up! I haven't even napped or tired out since the first week. So, although I know it's scary going into it - just know that recovery will probably be much much better than you are anticipating. You'll do great! And no more periods!! I'm missing my first one right now! Well, not actually "missing" it but you know what I mean!!

Vaginal Hysterectomy
Hi I had a TVH w/ A&P repair work back in December. Everything went great. The surgery was about an hour and half they said. I went home 2 days later. After about 2 weeks I was feeling more like myself. Definetly wanted to do more. I went back to work after 6 weeks and I could have went back after 4 but I wanted to enjoy a few more weeks of paid time off! I was still sleepy after a day at work but I am 3 months post op and everything is great. I am back to my very busy life schedule. The only problem I'm encountering is intercouse and that will hopefully get better in time. Best of luck to you, you have nothing to worry about! Just remember to REST, REST, AND REST -- even if it drives you crazy

Vaginal Hysterectomy
Lovelypen....I wanted to tell you that I am having a TVH on April 24. We are very close together. You made the comment that you wish you didn't think of it so much. I know that feeling. It's over a month away and it's still all I think about. I have a few things coming up that will help pass the time, but it's always in the back of my mind. Especially when I pass the maternity store at the mall. I loved shopping there when I was pregnant, and now I know I'll never get to shop there again. But everything happens as it's supposed to. I'm hoping for an uneventful recovery and will be hoping for one for you too. If you want to talk, you can pm me anytime. I get on here several times throughout the day.
