Sex when you can't take hormones
So I've got vaginal atrophy to go with my menopause. I can't take hormones as they could contribute to the breast cancer coming back.
Does anyone have any resources for being able to have PiV sex?

Re: Sex when you can't take hormones
It seems that many oncologists, these days, recommend at least taking vaginal estrogen to help combat atrophy as it does not go systemic. Vagifem, Yuvafem(generic of Vagifem), Estrace cream, Estring and Premarin cream are your options. I would recommend getting several opinions from gynos and onclologists. You don't have to live with that severe atrophy and pain.

Re: Sex when you can't take hormones
Hello,
I was in a similar situation, and worked with a sex therapist specializing in unique situations created by cancer a d other diseases.
Hyalo gyn cream can help restore some moisture to vaginal tissues. It is analogous to using lotion on your skin. And it does NOT contain hormones. It is safe for cancer patients who can not use hormones. Also, the more lubricant the better. You can work with a pelvic floor physical therapist using vaginal dilators to work up to intercourse. Do NOT suffer through painful intercourse, it will make it worse.
Hope this helps and take care,
Angie

You can try Revaree or Gynatrol. They are inserted into the vagina and non hormonal.
