Vivelle Dot vs Generic estradiol patch?

For over 10 years, from the minute I woke up in post-op after TVH, I have used the Vivelle Dot hormone patch (Novartis brand name). This week my new insurance filled it with the Sandoz authorized generic estradiol patch. I tried it for the first time 2 days ago and have had hot flashes (in middle of freezing winter temps!!) the past 2 nights. Has anyone else switched from the brand to the generic? I know there are multiple generics out there but this one IS the authorized generic produced by Sandoz (which is a division of Novartis) so I assumed it would be identical. I would love to hear from anyone else who made the switch and whether these symptoms might dissipate. I have not had hot flashes since the early months I was post op 10+ years ago! Of course, I got 3 months of the generic for less than I was paying for one month of the brand. I'm not even sure my new insurance will even let me get the brand anymore.

Re: Vivelle Dot vs Generic estradiol patch?

and

We're glad you found us and joined, though it's too bad that you're having problems that bring you to us. I've moved your thread to our hormone forums so that you have a better chance of getting the input you're seeking.

I used Vivelle until it was no longer covered by my insurance. I switched to the generic which in my case is made by Mylan. I haven't had any trouble with the switch, but I know that not everyone does as well on generic medications as they do on brand name.

Hopefully you'll adapt to the new patches and the symptoms will get back under control.

Vivelle Dot vs Generic estradiol patch?

You can do a search on here for generic patch and there is some really good info on ladies who so well w generic and ladies who did not. Looks like there is some adjustment time, as with most hormone changes. I didn't feel as well on the generic Mylan as I did on brand vivelle. Due to cost I gaveit 3 or 4 months but couldn't resist going back to vivelle. Everyone is different.
