Anyone noticed issues with your eyesight? O-O I am having trouble with focusing on the TV and my laptop. I'm 10 days out, still on the same HRT as before, not on any pain meds currently (except occasional Tylenol or ibuprofen).
Suggestions?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 04-Jan 10,2021
 Ladies,
So where to start. Eye sight: BB, you aren’t crazy and it will get better. It is usually explained as a result of the position you are in during surgery. Your head is down so depending on you and how long you were there it effects some. I had the issue and I don’t remember it lasting too long. Some have said anesthesia can also cause it.
Oh, and BB do use that UTI test, frequent urination is a symptom and I forgot to mention if in my earlier post. Also if it is negative still pay attention. I have seen lots of sisters say their test and their Dr’s 1st test came back negative and sure enough a week later when they had a culture test it was positive. UTIs really are common.
Bunny, the binder is a very individual thing. Some love them and some don’t. I have had some sisters say they were very useful when they had to go back to work. Like Kat many use their when they are going to ride in a car.
Jj, does your BellyButton have a lump near it or is it hot around it? You might want to keep an eye on your temperature just in case there is an infection. I have heard of a hematoma in this area also from the incision that is there. These can just absorb but why don’t you just let you Dr know what you are feeling. It could just be a nerve and will heal also.
Hope I remembered all your question, if not ask again. It’s been a long day. Oh, and keep burping and .... along with
Hugs to all
Anndy

Hi!
I had my hysterectomy the same day. I had everything removed besides my ovaries. How are you feeling now? My pain is pretty good. I just have bad insomnia and then I get exhausted during the day.

I’m thankful for all the advice on here, especially about being careful to not overdo it right away. I do feel like I can do more than I am, but knowing anesthesia is still in me, I’m just telling myself to “be lazy” so I keep myself quiet for now.
It’s hard to not do all the things when I feel good, especially being a person with ADHD. But, giving myself some verbal permission to not do stuff is actually really helpful.
Hugs to my surgery sisters, be gentle to yourself, we’ve been through a lot!

 lttlsab,
Glad you decided to join your sisters here on the Recovery Progress Report thread. You don’t mention what type of Hyst you had but we are glad you are doing well. Both insomnia and fatigue can be real issues during this recovery. They will improve in their own time but could hang around for a while, so rest when you can.

Hi V.Bunny!
I couldn't stomach the idea of prune juice either; just makes me want to gag, LOL! Never thought of making jello with it though. I did some looking online and found that pear juice can have similar results. Warmed up in the microwave with just a touch of cinnamon, it goes down nicely.
I eased up on the softener, bumped up the GasX and so far so good today.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jan 04-Jan 10,2021
I’m on day 8 after RATH and I’m doing pretty well. I think whats really hard to deal with is that I’m tired a lot of the time. I have a hard time sleeping well at night because I just can’t stay comfortable. So, I wake up tired and after getting up, making breakfast, showering , and taking a walk.....I’m pooped out. Other than a small incision that doesn’t want to heal up, I think overall I’m progressing well.
Am having some bladder spasms, urinary frequency, and just kind achy belly. I often times feels a heaviness and an ache in my pelvic area. I wish that I could just reach in there and massage it. I don’t know if that makes sense, or just sounds gross....lol! Also, i spend a lot of time sitting waiting to “do number 2” cause the no straining is really tough. Am still taking Ibuprofen, Tylenol, and some Gas X as needed but mostly at bight when it seems that I ache a little more than during the day.
I hope everyone is progressing this well.

 janellec,
Sis, sure wish I had the answer to the fatigue. The only thing I can add to my previous posts is rest, rest, and rest, along with putting those feet up. It just takes lots of energy for your insides to heal. Nap if you need and watch reruns in the middle of the night. Try to go with the flow. Things will improve.
Please keep a watch on the peeing and bladder spasm issue and do drink lots of water. Some UTIs present with not feeling right in the pelvic area. But it could just be congestion from lack of circulation. You could try alternating ice and heat to increase circulation. Much better option than massage. Please keep letting us know how you are feeling. I am thinking about you.
Hugs,
Anndy

How is everyone doing today? My energy levels are up and down. Yesterday I pretty much slept all day. Today I am feeling a bit more energy and I am still taking it easy.

 Roses,
Sounds like business as usual for this part of recovery. I hope you are being able to enjoy being home with you furry family and DH.
Have been wondering how everyone is doing also.

That sounds like me, I slept for hours yesterday and I thought I'd be lying awake all night but slept all night as well!
