New and seeking advice

I found this website completely by accident, but now am glad I did. It helps to know that I'm not the only one out there that's worried and scared.
I'm actually seeing my doctor tomorrow. I have been avoiding this (last visit was 6/2000) because I know he will tell me it's time. Part of me knows that it's logical and that it is, indeed, time. Part of me is scared to death.
I want to be reasonable about this, I really do, but I'm not feeling all that reasonable right now. Any advice?

Hi Chel,

Welcome to Hystersisters!!

If you haven't already read them, there are some excellent hints in the drop-down menus that are on the main page of this site. Click onto the 3 Princesses at the upper left of this page to get there, then scroll down towards the bottom of that page.

If you are not sure about having a hysterectomy, you can explore other options in the Options and Alternatives Forum here

I'm glad that you found us, and hope that you'll continue to come back and post your questions.

research, research, and more research. make a list of ? to ask your dr when you go to your appt. major surgery is a scary concept. you ar not alone in being afraid. this is a very big decision, and it is your decision, don't let anyone pressure you into this. this is a great place to find advice and ask ?. definitely use the search button to find support on your exact troubles. but you must communicate well with your dr. it is very important that you are both on the same playing field. good luck, and stay away from the scary sites that are out there.

Hi, Chel -

Being scared about a hysterectomy is very normal! You had a good accident finding this site :-). My best advice is to read as much as you can. Ask any questions you have - the folks here are very supportive and helpful, and all of us have been through it or are going through it now.
