And then everyone else seemed to be doing so great it just made me feel worse. I ended up upping the oxycodone -I won’t lie-more than they said, but I finally got some relief. I still feel like if I stand too long I suffer. But I am feeling a bit better, and that is a huge relief. Oh I can’t wait to be on the other side of this!
Glad you were able to up your dosage and are feeling better Sunny! Being able to get proper sleep makes all the difference in the world for recovery. I feel much better after having a couple of nights in a row of good sleep! The mild euphoria you feel when you are doing well in the hospital can really fool you!

I'm now struggling with a bit of constipation after having a successful BM my first evening home. I've been doing everything right - eating small meals of fresh fruit, veggies, oatmeal, walking frequently and drinking enough water to sink the Titanic, but so far ... nothing! I took a Senokot pill tonight, so hopefully that helps.

Home this afternoon. Walking more. Pain has changed and more like pulling around stitches and back pain and less like menstrual pain. Still no BM. Very tired. Car trip home was a bit painful. For those of you with abdominal binders, when/how are you using them? I have one which I haven't used yet. Was late out of theatre Friday evening and it's a long weekend due to Australia Day so didnt get a chance to talk to surgeon and won't until Tuesday. Surgery was apparently straightforward.
Feeling OK. Being cared for by my mother who is a nurse. Hope everyone is going well.

Hello, Ladies.
I just posted on another thread that I’m now 4 days out, and I had been doing really well. Had tapered my pain meds down to almost nothing, but now it’s 4 am and I’m huddled in my recliner with a hot rice bag and a Percocet on board. I think I was sleeping too deeply and moved or stretched in a way I should not have. I would say my pain now is comparable to my initial immediate post op pain. I’m frustrated, and I was actually a little scared when it woke me up, but 30 minutes after taking my pill it’s subsiding. I was up and around really well yesterday, but I think my plans for today just got changed to feet up, movies, and books. I’m trying to tell myself I would normally LOVE a day to sit with my feet up and be waited on haha. (That is a lie. I’m a terrible patient, and hate to be waited on.) Oh well. Hubs brought me a new book yesterday so I’ll try to enjoy it.

Ha! I just kinda had the same thing happen! My leg must have been hurting in my sleep and I turned over real quick to relieve it. Yeah. Ouch! It was not good.

You have a good plan! Just give into it and listen to your body. Hopefully it was just a tiny setback for you on your way forward! Rest, rest ,rest!

Is Senekot a stool softener? They gave me a scrip for them (Colace) and told me to take them twice a day until gone. Also I was suppose to drink 8 oz of miralax every morning. I only did that the first two days because the stool softener is doing the job. But maybe stay on the stool softener for awhile till things regulate. You don’t need any extra pressure or pain down there, that’s for sure!

To anyone up in these wee hours, you are not alone. After a fairly good day I am counting down till my next pill again. I also keep getting blinding headaches, not sure what that is about.
I really wish someone else in the house would wake up to get me a drink. I really don’t want to get up right now. Lol

Oh I feel your pain! I just reheated my rice pack and hobbled back to my chair, but I’m regretting not bringing a drink with me. Hubs is getting up for church in an hour and I know he’ll get me settled before he goes.

I had blinding headaches the first two days. My surgeon happens to be a friend, and I messaged her. She had me add some caffeine to my pain control- I replaced a dose of Percocet with a dose of Midol and that did the trick.

Oh caffeine might actually be it! I don’t drink coffee but I do drink Pepsi and I haven’t really been drinking that much of it. I never even thought of that! No Midol on hand, but I guess I am going to try and get myself a drink. I am going to take my pill now anyway. The pain is still building.
Glad your hubby will be up soon to get you what you need. I don’t think mine will be up for awhile unfortunately.

Day 5

Sunday jan26 is day 5. Pain not as intense although If I turn a certain way there could be sharp pains, probably where the stitches are inside, but mostly the pain seems to be getting better. I was taking 650 Ibuprofen, and 650 Tylenol every six hrs. I i’m trying to reduce that on my own, so currently I am taking 400 ibuprofen nail and 500 Tylenol, every 6 or as close as possible. I notice I am more aware of the pain because I’m taking less medicine, but so far it’s not been super unbearable. I have not been taking the stool softeners regularly, but did have a few bowel movements , but only one today so may still need to take the stool softener. The bowels are very painful though prior to going to the bathroom, so it’s pretty uncomfortable when you get the urge to go it feels really uncomfortable and painful as things move around it seems getting ready for the bowel movement to happen so that was pretty uncomfortable today. Been urinating fine, very frequently (drinking slot of water),and I noticed there is some leakage from the bladder today, not a lot, but I did notice there is some slightly pink. My appetite is not very strong, but it’s starting to come back a little bit. I’m still not able to sleep in my bed because my bed is too high up, and it’s too soft so I would not be able to get out of bed if I tried to get in there, so I’m still sleeping downstairs on the chair which is kind of like a recliner so I’m kind of halfway sitting up lounging. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, my belly is swollen, the incisions look good but it is a tight kind of full feeling in my stomach. Overall I feel like I am improving a little bit each day, but I still have to be careful about turning certain ways because there could be sharp pains, I try to walk as much as possible in the house, I’ve been going up and down the steps and slowly, but then not been lifting anything heavy and very careful with those instructions
