Four weeks post-op w/HRT...anger, anger, anger!

Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post-op total DvH. I started .9 Premarin about 10 days post-op due to really bad night sweats. Those have mellowed some, but now I find myself flying off the handle...a lot. I was almost always that way with PMS, but now really minor things seem to set me off. I realize it, but I still can't seem to control it. In addition, we have a new 3-month-old puppy and my 7-year-old had an emergency appendectomy 3 days after my surgery, so it's been a stressful month to say the least. I imagine it is all enhanced by the fact that I can't do more exercise than walking; I am used to the elliptical 4 days a week for at least an hour at a time and my reduced activity level leaves me with no outlet for my emotions.

Do I need to have my medication adjusted? Up? Down? Something in addition? Do I talk to my surgeon about it (she prescribed the HRT), or a different doctor? I have definitely NOT been a happy camper, and I know I'm making my family miserable, too. Please help!!

Oh yeah, I can relate. The first few months post op for me were a time of hormonal upheaval. I was very short tempered and never knew when it would strike. I would be screaming one minute, crying the next. It is very common at this point in your recovery. Your body is going thru a major change.

IMHO I would not do too much tweaking at this point. Relax and let your body recover from your surgery. I would talk with your doctor about how you're feeling.

I'm sorry you're feeling so badly. I used to have horrible PMS so I know that feeling of anger and agitation. Fortunately I haven't had any mood swings at all since my surgery. I've been on the Vivelle Dot .1 mg. since the recover room.
If I were you, I'd call your surgeon since she prescribed the med. and see if you need an adjustment in your meds.
