Recovering from LAVH
I had surgery 3 weeks ago. No complications (so far) My doctor told me recovery time was 4-6 weeks. But, because of my age (52)and having the additional bladder surgery to add another week or so.
My surgery was on 10/30th. I went in at 9:00am. The surgery took 1 hour 40min. Then, I left the hospital around 3:00pm. No cath was needed.
Everything is going as planned. Doc let me start driving this week. And next week I will be working 1/2 days.
Hope this helps.

Hi!
I'm scheduled to have LAVH, possible TAH, depending once he gets in there next week. I was told that I would have stay in the hospital 2 days for LAVH and 4 days if he decides to go TAH route.
Best wishes and good luck!!!

Lavh Recovery Time
I had an LAVH 4.5 weeks ago. I was in the hospital overnight. Surgery was at 0730 and I was in my room around 1100. Catheter was already out when I woke up in recovery. IV came out the next morning. I was walking the halls within an hour of getting to my room (although not far and not fast). My recovery has been very smooth with no complications. Just remember that even though you only have 3 little incisions, you have a bunch inside that require healing. My doc wanted 6 weeks and that's what I'm taking. I feel really good, but still get tired easily. I have a desk job that doesn't require any lifting, but I'm up and down from the chair a lot when it's busy. My doc said it could take 6 months or more to completely recover.

I am scheduled to have a LAVH/LSO Dec 4. My doc told me that I would have to stay one night in the hospital and recovery would be 4-6wks. If he has to change to TAH/LSO because of endo and adhesions then 2 night in hospital and 6-8wks recovery. Best of luck to you!

Lavh Recovery Time
I had my LAVH on the 15th. I stayed in the hospital for 30 hours just to get on an agreeable painkiller and today I feel great. Almost 2wks now. I kept the milk of magnesia and stool softener handy and after my 1st "movement" ,three days after surgery, I was on the road to recovery. That 1st "movement " was a doosie !!!!! It has been amazing how quickily I have recovered. I was the biggest worry wart on this site and I found so much support from everyone...I drove myself insane with panic and i just couldnt seem to get ahold of myself.... The day of surgery I repeated over and over again in my head that I am STRONG..And I DID IT!!!! Now here I am and I cant wait to keep going Good luck to you all

Lavh Recovery Time
I stayed in the hospital less than 24 hrs. Catheter removed within 4 hrs and then walked around. I was 'fully recovered' at 5 weeks, which means I did not have any pain or feeling that I had surgery. HOWEVER, this does not mean I am 100% healed even at 10 weeks. If I lift heavy things or overdo it I can get a pulling feeling or cramps. Therefore you will need to be cautious for 3-6 months or more as our insides take longer to heal. I felt normal at 5 weeks because I took care not to overdo physical things. I still do yoga, walking, driving like normal. Just no high impact or heavy weights. I just had fibroids which is probably the simplest reason for a hysterectomy. If you need more work done, healing may be longer.
Also, I had 'relations' with DH at 6 weeks and my drive is better than ever. The surgery has not decreased my drive or response, although I have read in many places that it may have an effect for some women.

Lavh Recovery Time
I agree with all of you ladies. I believe that the recovery time is different for everyone, also pending what kind of work you are having done.
When I go in next week I am having everything taken. My right ovary (left one was removed earlier this year), the tube of course, the uterus, and the cervix. It's all going!! I'm anxious about having nothing left, but know in the long run I'll be feeling 100X's better.
I think because I'm having everything taken out in this one procedure, that is the reason that I have to stay in the hospital longer?? Not sure, but it'll be at least 2 days if LAVH and 4 days if TAH and then 4 - 8 weeks recovery. I'm hoping on 4 of course.
Good luck to all of you and I'll see you soon on the other side!

Lavh Recovery Time
I have my LAVH on Nov.1st. I was supposed to go home the next day, but I got sick from the morphine and was longer before I was able to walk and pee by myself, so they kept me an extra night.
My Dr. told me I coulddrive after 4 days ... but I didn't, I don't feel up to that until week 2. I still get very tired, but I have been decorating for Christmas (DH is lifting everything for me)and have even donesome shopping.
My Dr. won't let me sit in bath or have sew until 12 weeks and said to expect being tired for quite some time. I have fibromyalgia so I tired it part of my life, but this is definitly a different kind of tired.
