10 biggest worries

THIS SO VERY COOL - I'm scheduled for the 29th and fixed one of my BIGGEST FEARS just this morning - I went from TAH/LSO to TAH/BSO (I have family hx of ovarian cancer and not worth the risk of leaving it behind to become a silient troublemaker....

10. Nurses poking me in the middle of the night
9. LOSSING my "Privacy"
8. Having to ask for help
7a. cathader until I learned they do that while I am asleep
7b. accidentally ripping out my IV
6. Overcoming the physical pain/discomfort so that I WILL GET UP & MOVE THAT GAS RIGHT OUT OF ME
5. Having to ask for help
4. Complications - not waking up
3. Accepting that to a certain degree I don't have control over some of this stuff
2. HRT therapy
1. Unforseen complication

and the one I wasn't going to list - but what the heck - coming home to Riley - my 85 lb dog who gets very happy and bouncy when he is reunited with loved ones (& he loves EVERYONE VERY much). We are back in training not to jump on the mommy

I can't wait to update this one!!!

Re: the list goes on...

Now I've jumped over the fence here is what I would say about my list:

1. Am I really doing the right thing.
... Totally did the right thing. My doc was overjoyed to tell me my decision to have the surgery was the best because she found a nice patch of adeno in there and more fibroids.

2. What will it be like waking up in recovery room???
...I barely remember laying down on the op. table and the surgery seemed like it was all of 2 seconds then I was waking up in recovery and was entertained by a man who was swinging at the nurses as he came out of his anesthesia - hope I didn't do that!

3. The dreaded swelly belly... and for how long???
...Am a little poochy but not too bad and this is only day 3 so I have reasonable hopes of this being temporary.

4. Sex
...Don't know about that yet. Mostly worried about loss of libido buy doc said we could work on that when we get there.

5. Emotions
... So far so good. I got teary yesterday but it was happy tears of relief because I did it and the worrying is over.

6. Swelly belly
... See #3.

7. Sex
...See #4.

8. Emotions
...See #5.

9. Oh yeh, swelly belly
...Boy was I obsessed with swelly belly fear!

10. Will my sense of humour survive!
...Still laughing! Thank goodness.

(will my DH survive!) heh heh
...He survived beautifully, brought me beautiful red tulips and choc. pudding. I'm keeping him...

this is such a great idea! thanks to the sister who started it, and citron for moving it back to the top of the post! (glad you are doing well!)

1. that TAH will not help my problems and could make them worse

2. I will mess something up duriing recovery, and will have to go back in

3. gas, constipation, bowel pain

4. they will find cancer

5. they will have to take my ovaries

6. embarrased about dirty house

7. boredom and frustration during recovery

8. having a catheter

9. bowel prep

10. my elderly dog wont survive my absence

okay..writing all this down in one place makes it seem much more manageable. looking forward to coming back to this list and having it all wrong.

10 biggest worries

1.Being out of work for so long (paying bills)
2.HRT
3.Bathroom issues (one bathroom upstairs, bedroom downstairs)
4.Pain
5.Complications
6.Sex in the future
7.Nasty scar
8.Weight gain
9.Embarassing myself
10.Having to have more done in the future
This was my original list before surgery. I wanted to update it after surgery.
1. Still worried about paying bills, but I've realized that since I'm not driving back and forth to work and I'm not paying to eat lunch everyday...we save money.
2. Taking Premarin for almost two weeks now. Haven't had any problems so far. An occasional hot flash, but that's it.
3. We brought home a bedpan from the hospital. I used it with a lounge chair that is in our room and my husband didn't have any problem taking it upstairs to the bathroom to empty it. The only time I would go upstairs for the first few days is for a BM. There's no way I would use a bedpan for that.
4. The pain wasn't as bad as I expected. I have actuallybeen able to handle it better than I thought.
5. Thanks to God, there were no complications this time.
Numbers 6-10, I really can't comment on right now. The healing isn't over yet.
But thanks for reading this.

All in all my surgery went great and all my fears were just that fears... You know I once read something about a survey done on older people and what they would do different if they could...
One of the biggest things was that they would have worried less..
