Apologies

I didn't mean that all drs are bad. All I was saying is that, at least around here, the drs are not very caring. They do not sit and talk to you and try to find out what's wrong, even if you try. They ask what your symptoms are and give you a piece of paper to go see someone else. I have been to over a dozen drs in the last year. Out of that dozen, only 1 made me feel that he cared. The rest just rushed me in and out the door. I do not know the last time I spent more than 5-10 minutes with a dr. I think my surgeon did a good job and I do feel much better than before surgery but the morning after my surgery he did not even come in and check me before he released me to go home, nor did he send another dr. He called the nurses and had them release me. At my 2 week followup I was also very disappointed as he was only with me for 2-3 minutes and then left the room. I was having severe pain one day and was concerned so I called to talk to the dr. His office said they would give him the message. It was a week later before anyone called. I called to schedule my 6 week follow up and he had no openings until Monday which is almost 9 weeks since surgery. This is just a small example of what I have dealt with the drs around here. I have went to dr after dr to find someone that cared and they are very far and few between. I don't mean to give drs a bad rap but it is very disheartening the way they rush people in and out. The average dr around here sees over 100 patients a day. What does that tell you?

Thank you all very much for your replies and support. I really appreciate it and confusion, I too am very sorry about your friend. I just have not had very good experiences with drs. I wish you all the best.

I'm so sorry DC4ever.
I didn't realize my surgeon had a twin! What saved me was my family doctor who is up on things and does have time to talk with me. She has been blessing.
I do notice that specialists, even if they are nice, are often really busy.
Good luck and I hope you can find someone who will listen and work with you!

Thanks

I'm glad somebody understands. Unfortunately, I have been to 3 different primary care drs and they are no better. My urologist is the only one I feel like he cares but he's a specialist so it doesn't help with anything else. Thanks for caring. I'm basically doing okay - just some annoying pain that won't go away.

Hi DC4ever,
Oh, I do understand.
Is there any chance you could ask your urologist for a recommendation? If you tell him you need someone like him and specify what you are looking for he might know of someone. You can say you just can't find someone who has time for you and not give names of the docs that didn't work in case he is great friends with one of them.
Also, sometimes a pharmacist will give you the scoop on doctor's. I know they aren't supposed to or are worried about getting in trouble but if you make friends with one they can be a real treasure! After all, they hear all about doctor's and have to use them too!

After what I've been through the last year, I am on first name basis with one of my pharmacists. She even knows my voice on the phone and that's not a good thing considering it is one of the busiest CVS stores in the area. I will be sure to ask her. Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately, my urologist knows all of the drs I've seen and is friends with a lot of them, especially my gyn/surgeon so it probably wouldn't be a good thing to ask him. There is a branch of my current primary care that opened right down from where I work that I am going to go check out next week. Its the same group but different drs.

You guys have been a life saver through all of this.

The pain in my left side has been there forever it seems but mostly for the last year except when I had my period before that it hurt but before surgery everything from my rib cage to my thighs hurt from the cramping, endo and cysts. Now it is just my left side and lower back. It is the same thing you describe, sometimes throbs, sometimes achy, sometimes I get sharp stabbing pain but it is always there in some form - it gets worse as the day wears on. Do you know what is causing it?

DC, by any chance did you have the bladder sling thing done? Just wondering if the suture that is made for this that anchors the bladder to the sacral ligament is the problem--that is near your tailbone. Sometimes they stitch it too tight and it causes pain in the lower back. I had this pain for a while. Now only my tailbone hurts. Just wondered if you had this done and if it could be the problem.
