Upcoming hysterectomy 2/26 - worry about putting on weight right away
Good Morning, my surgery is 2/26. I am starting to get nervous about the recovery. I work out 5 times a week religiously and worry about putting on weight right away. Any tips are welcomed. I am having it via lasoscopy (spelling?) Thanks!

Upcoming hysterectomy 2/26 - worry about putting on weight right away
Hi! We have the same surgery date.
That's is one of my concerns as well. I like to walk 10k steps and it's going to be a while before I can get back to that pace.
Other women have posted to really watch what they are eating.
That's the area that I have trouble with which is emotional eating so I make it up by walking a lot.
One HysterSister shared that she lost 10lbs her first month by drinking plenty of fluids and moving from a liquid diet to a soft food diet to then a solid.
I think everyone is different and if you work out 5 days a week I think you will recover more quickly.
Wishing you all the best & a speedy recovery 😊

Upcoming hysterectomy 2/26 - worry about putting on weight right away
Please keep in mind that you will temporarily put on some weight, from the fluids that they'll pump into you; this should come off within a couple of weeks. Depending on what your workouts involve, you may need to take a break during your recovery, but regular walking is highly encouraged. And if you're having your ovaries removed, that will lower your metabolism. As the previous poster suggested, as long as you watch your diet closely - one tried and true strategy is to keep a food diary - you should be okay. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery!
