Surgery date set: 3/8/2012, relief, nerves!

I'm new here. I went yesterday to see my surgeon. My GYN referred me to her since he does not do laprascopic hysterectomies. I was able to get a second opinion by going to her also. She is wonderful. She specializes in this type of surgery and we have it set for 3/8/2012 - the Thursday before our Spring Break down here. I'm nervous about sex - which seems to be a common fear from what I've read in the threads here. I'm glad I'm not alone. I was unsure about having my cervix removed, and my surgeon said her preference was to remove it because of the possible complications later that may involve another surgery. I feel comfortable about removing it. What helped was reading all the support posts for ladies having the same concerns regarding sex.

And wouldn't you know it, when I arrived home yesterday after my surgery appointment, what had arrived? My HysterSisters hysterectomy booklet!

I am nervous moving forward with the surgery and yet at peace - seems crazy!

I would like to make friends with you, so add me or point me in the right direction in how to 'add' friends. I need all the support I can get.

I know what you mean about sex. It is something that I have thought about since they told me that I needed the surgery. Sex has been a major issue for my husband and me for the past 7 years, and I am ready to get this done and over with! Reading posts and talking to some of the hystersisters on here has really put me at ease. I will add you as a friend, and you can talk to me anytime.

Love this site too I started a thread titled "OMG 1 week till surgery and Doc changes mind. Please answer if you had your cervix removed" It is active here in the Pre Op section. It has a ton of positive replies regarding sex after hysterectomy.. Take a look at it. I am 6 days away from my TVH Da Vinci procedure.. Leaving 1ovary.. cant wait to have this over and done with..
