Bath question for after hysterectomy...

Ok baths are my de-stress. Big time. And they ease pain for me as well. I love soaking in a bath with candles, favorite book and a glass of wine lol. How long after surgery can you take one? Silly question I know, but kind of a big deal to me! Plus it seems like it would help ease post op pain. I've seen many answers is why I ask, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 24 hours...so I'm asking here. Thanks!

Re: Bath question for after...

You absolutely have to ask your doctor this question and strictly follow the rules YOUR doctor gives for YOU. Only your doctor knows what was done, how you were sewn up, what problems could result etc. That's why you see such varied answers. I have seen from 24 hours to 8 weeks. Baths comfort me too, but you don't want to do anything that could cause infection or delayed healing. Nobody knows the answer but your doc. I have my that s/he says soon.

Re: Bath question for after...

My dr okayed them at 2 weeks, but I haven't had one yet because it would be too hard to get in and out of the tub. Besides 2 weeks just seems too early to me.

Re: Bath question for after...

2 weeks for me but showing is still a struggle so I will pass on the baths for now. Be sure to ask your doctor because as mentioned before each doctor has their own preference. Good luck

Re: Bath question for after...

Thanks all so much! I'll be sure to ask him. He seems very quick and in a hurry though he is a good doctor, the nurses told me he is the best in the area. I definitely don't want any infection, I've been there done that after my first baby, an episiotomy went wrong, this time it was the doctor's fault but my blood got septic 3 days after her birth, and I was in a foreign country (Netherlands) so was scared. But yeah I'll follow orders I'm just hoping orders are kind haha! Thanks again!
