one more week

It is finally down to one more week. I am so tired of thinking of nothing else but this surgery, planning for it, buying things for it and talking of nothing but it.
I was already in pre-op on the 16th and then after waiting in my room for 5 hours the surgeon cancelled it because he was sick. It felt like a huge let down. I was kind of relieved but then on the other hand, it would have been all done now.
Oh well, I know what to expect as far as the pre=op.
I had been calm but the actual day I got pretty weepy but as soon as I was in the room and there was so much activity, I really calmed right down again.
The surgery I am having is going to include lots of repair work so I go into this knowing it will be more painful for probably longer so I am mentally prepared. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised and it won't be as bad as what I am anticipating.
I think what unnerves me is the being out of commission for so long. As moms we are the do everything woman and it is hard to let someone else or no one else take over.
I agree, this is the time I miss my Mom who passed away a few years ago. She would be so on top of my recovery.
Good luck ladies, just think, pretty soon we can post on the post=op board and we will be healing.
God Bless,

One more week

Cozette2, I feel you when you say it's hard to let someone take over. When my mom came down last week we butted heads majorly but once I got home from the hospital it was really easy to let her baby me and my family. It was similar when my MIL came during a different recovery. As long as you trust your recovery friends to treat you well accept anyhelp you can. We only have one chance to heal right the first time.

BTW I suggest you invest in the Hyster Sister's crown !
It is a gentle reminder to yourself and all of those around you that you must be pampered. Plus you can sleep in it with out it poking you!

Cozette2 hit the nail on the head. It is SO hard for us women/moms to let someone else take over and do things for us when we are the ones who are supposed to be taking care of our house and families. That's one of the things I am going to struggle with and one reason I'm having a hard time with all of this right now. My last procedure had me in bed for about three days. Even when I was cleared to drive again and not on doctor's orders to stay in bed, I was SO tired for two weeks after. It was so frustrating to not be able to do everyday normal activities around the house and to have to rely on others.

My friends were wonderful and would call when they were at the grocery store to ask if I needed them to pick anything up for me. I was grateful that they were thinking of me and willing to help out, but I felt awful having to depend on others to do the simplest of tasks and all because I was too tired.

I learned from that experience, though to just swallow my pride and allow others to take care of me instead of trying to do too much too soon on my own. Won't be making that mistake this time! I plan to milk this as much as I can! LOL!!

CharMay, [my personal hero ]thank you for your personal reply, it helped so much to see how well you are recouperating, and I will think about that crown, you can never treat yourself too well.
When I read the post -ops and see the ladies who just a few weeks or even days ago were just like us and now they are on the other side, it is so encouraging to hear their stories. To know that what we have built up in our minds is probably worse than the reality. We will just take it one day at a time. We have a healthy summer to look forward to and by Christmas time, we will be golden.
Boy, do I appreciate all the great sisters so willing to share even as you are healing, thank you
Oh and if I gave the wrong impression, I have a great hubby and my stepdaughter as well as my sister to help me out, but if the truth be known, I would sure rather be packing for a cruise , maybe next year.

My Ladies in Waiting Sisters

I think at about this time (pre-op) I started a countdown on all of my posts. It made me feel like I was facing my fear and it helped to control it. Just the visualization of "charging the castle" helped to put my life situation into full view. I was sad because many things in my life were passing me by because my constant pain and unpredictable bleeding. My uterus prevented me from living up to my full potential! I kept this thought in my mind during my last two pre-op days. My goes out to each of my fellow sisters who are Ladies in Waiting.

BTW You have permission to cry big boo-hoo tears. I prefer to cry in a warm shower; it feels like a warm and you don't run your Mascara!
