My Dr. said i would be in 24 hours or up to 4 days. A neighbor told me she was released 2 hours after surgery. Is this normal?

I can't imagine being release 2 hrs after surgery.

I had surgery on a Mon and went home Wed afternoon. I'd asked my dr the morning of surgery and he said if you're having just a hysterectomy you might go home in 24 hrs but since I had repair work too, the stay was a little longer.

Good luck!!!
Blessings,

It seems castle stays really vary with each doctor! I'm having a TVH and my gyn has a mandatory 3 days stay (not counting surgery day). If it was an abdominal it would be 5 day stay. So, best bet is to call your doctor and see what his standard is for your type of surgery

Hi--- It may not matter what your doctor says it's best to check with your insurance company. My doctor told me 4 days for a TAH, and thats what I was prepared for, well less than 48 hours after my surgery I got sent home since my insurance company said only 2 nights. My surgery was Wednesday at 4 and I was sent home Friday at 2.

My doctor said since I didnt have any complications there wasnt anything she could do so I could stay longer. So check it out with your insurance company before you enter the castle.

My doctor sent in a pre-approval so we know exactly what they're paying for and for how long so they can't kick me out - even if I feel better ;-)!
