Finally got a new date!

Having had my surgery cancelled 5 days before it was scheduled because of concerns for my chest, I have now been given a new date at the end of the month. I am to go to a big medical centre instead of a Maternity/Gynaecological unit.
I am quite relieved to get a date. I can now start to re plan and get everything organised for my family (5 men) again.
I have also had an added few weeks to mentally prepare for surgery.
I feel a lot more ready to go and get this operation over with now and hopefully start my recovery and the rest of my healthy life.
I have made so many plans for when I am well that I am getting excited about the years ahead!
I have hardly left the house in the past 10 months as I cannot walk any distance and cannot stand for long because of the pressure in my legs and lower back. I have a huge prolapse and fibroids so life has been limited to say the least. Added to this I have asthma and when I cough the problems get worse. I am breathless on exertion and tired all the time. However my anaemia has improved so I am feeling a good bit better in myself.
Roll on the 29th and lets get this problem sorted!
Hopefully they won't find any further complications to postpone surgery.
I am being as positive as I can and would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers please.

Re: Finally got a new date!

Hi Ben!

I am sorry you have been dealing with so much... not leaving the house for 10 months, and not being able to stand for long, is not a way to live. I am so glad you have your date, and can finally get these issues resolved.

Being in with a house of 5 men, they may not understand what you are going through. We certainly do. Just know that you are not alone and we are here to help and support you!

Re: Finally got a new date!

Thanks for all the messages. Great to have an understanding sisterhood out there. The guys are great but are typically task oriented. Except for my husband they just don't see the big picture. They do something to help and thats it. Repeating it again is not in their vision at all. A friend today suggested to me to look into convalescent care for after my discharge and she is actually going to try and organise it for me! She can see that I probably need to disappear to recover initially. If I am at home I'll be on hand as problem solver etc. It is probably the most sensible thing to do and they will all survive quite well without me for a while! Only 3 weeks and 2 days to go!
