Upcoming hysterectomy 3/10 - Just an update
My surgery is scheduled for 10 March. I have a uterine prolapse and am having everything removed except my ovaries, and the surgeon will also be doing a uterosacral ligament suspension for support.
Just had my pre-op appointment with my gyno/surgeon this morning. She is wonderful -- answered all my questions and then some. Since I'm 62 I'll be in the hospital overnight so she said to pack a bag. She said she likes to keep her older patients overnight just to make sure everything is good. She's calling in my post-op scripts to my pharmacy today so everything will be ready in advance.
I asked her about HRT afterwards and told her that I'd like to try a low dose patch and she was on board with that. It's going to mess with my thyroid meds but I'll get that adjusted.
Hopefully everything will go according to plan. I'm still super nervous, but feel a little less anxious after this appointment.

Ardza, it is normal to be nervous, It is hard not to be afraid of the unknown. SO, try between now and your surgery date, get organized to be able to recovery comfortably at home once you get discharged from the hospital. I am so glad you feel better after your pre-op appt. It is wonderful to have faith in someone that you know you are in good hands with your surgeon and medical team. Best to follow orders from your medical team as they will guide you to the best outcome of healing.
Glad you have found this website with tons of useful information to assist you for optimal healing. Take some time and read thru some of the information found here.

My advice, try to relax and lean on your personal support system as well as those here that have traveled the road before you. Be sure to check in after your surgery, as there will be a special recovery thread set up just for those having surgery this coming week.
My thoughts will be with you on your upcoming surgery day, imagine you are enveloped in big warm hugs full of love, support and healing energy.
