Feeling Stitches While Having Sex

I was cleared for intimacy with my husband 6 weeks post-op. (I had a DaVinci laparoscopic hysterotomy to remove everything since I had pre-cancerous cells in my utereus.) He said he felt something poking him in there, and sure enough ... there were stitches still up there. They felt pretty thick, so I went to my gyn and she removed the ones she could get to. They literally look like fishing line with tiny barbs on it. I looked at my post-op report and saw that they are called "StrataFix" stitches. She could not get to one way off to the side, but she was hopeful my husband would not feel it. Unfortunately, he could. So, now I'm stuck with this one stitch that is preventing us from enjoying each other. I hate it.

I am almost 11 weeks post-op. Does anyone know how long it will take to dissolve? My doctor can't go back in because it's too hard to reach. (Besides, it's not a pleasant experience even when the stitches were somewhat easy to clip.) Is there anything I can do to make the stitch dissolve faster? Is it possible the stitch will not dissolve at all??? (I'm extremely worried about that possibility because sex isn't fun at all for either of us with that stitch there!)

Re: Feeling Stitches While Having Sex

After a quick online search I found that most of the stitches from this company are absorbed within 6 months or less. They seem to be top of the line stitches and used specifically with robotic surgery. I know that’s not a positive per say since that’s a long waiting time, but at least you can assume they will go away. Remember that the 6 month time period is a maximum time frame. They could be on their way to dissolving right now and you just can’t tell. Just look up your stitches dissolve time frame and something should come up with more information and talk to your doctor. Sending you all my best!
