Clipped Bowel

I am six weeks from my surgery and on a wound vac. The doctor clipped my bowel and I ended up a month in the hospital and three operations. I hear that this is not uncommon. The hospitol and doctor is paying my 75000 bill but I am still not able to get on with my life, I have this machine that I have to carry with me everywhere I go and every other day I go through painfull bandgage changing.

Well, yes, we are all snowflakes, unique in our cases and healing. Right now I'm sending positive energy to Bahrain as I am very worried about SunnyBahrain! Take care sisters. E
The weather here is much better today. I am also walking everyday too (mostly downstairs back and forth due to us living on nothing but hills) but yesterday I would not even go outside. Too humid. Today is a different day I feel much better. I just need to deal with lower intestinal pain today.

Are you still taking colace? Still drinking tons of water? You should be able to use the bathroom a little easier by now. Are you staying on a fairly light diet (veggies, fruit, chicken, yogurt, etc)? I am really looking forward to a steak dinner or a freshly made pizza, but don't want to ruin a good thing thing now that I'm regular and going to the bathroom doesn't hurt anymore. The first few days were heinously painful... they reminded me of when I had given birth (many moons ago.. but certain fun times are hard to forget.) I drink about 3 liters of water a day and I think that helps things along. If you are doing all the right things and the pain continues, please call the doctor...

Healing wishes my friend.

I am still drinking (tons??) water. Not sure how much maybe 32oz. I am still taking Colace. I am regular as far as the bathroom but it's still very painful to go. It is like everything is moving and hurting as I go I eat very healthy veggies, fruit, protein shakes with maca and fiber. It's just strange.

Weight loss seems to be normal especially when your still on meds. I think the appetite picks up after your start moving and feeling better. But it is nice to start on the lower end of the scale. :woot:

I was taken back to the hospital yesterday as the pain was really bad and much worse than 1 day post op. Not really satisfactory as my OB/GYN doesn't speak too much English and just prescribed absolutely everything to cover all likley causes without explaining too much. She did tried to say that as I had adenomyosis it could easily be adhesisions where I have done too much and torn the tissue, also could be infection so should prescribed very strong anti biotic does and vaginal cream...Flagyl and Dalacin..not happy to take either especially as most articles discourage any vaginal preparations.
So, the only good thing is that I am on strong volatin again for the pain which helps but no answers.

I have really bad pain on right side of incision and hard lump underneath and long sausage swelling on top on incision. I can barely get up and down the pain is so bad.

I think I may have torn something as when I first had catheter removed, I was up and down to the bathroom every 20 mins for 72 hours until it all calmed down and may well have pulled something then getting in and out of bed that often and at times very quickly and awkwardly.

Has anyone else had an infection? If so what were your symptoms? Any advice gratefully appreciated. I don't think I have an infection so loathe to take anti biotics. But, of course I may be very wrong.

Had been doing so well and now feel pretty low with it all and frustrated not knowing what is wrong as my Consultant doesn't speak English and is now on holiday. So a locum is covering!

Would love to hear from anyone who has had anything similar.

Hugs xxx
Hang in there Sunny B, my prayers are with you. Just do as the doc says and do the best you can using your own common sense. If things get to bad, maybe you could go to the ER and a different doc could look at you. Take care of yourself the best you can.

Thanks to Byfaith and Elefante 64 for your kind messages. Pain meds are just kicking in again so easing it a bit. Its the Islamic weekend tomorrow so everywhere is closed so just hoping that I can make it through to Saturday without needing to see the specialist.

I'm pretty sure I don't have an infection, no temperature, no discharge, but who knows? My gynae certainly didn't seem to know?!

For the ladies who are still suffering with BM, have you tried Smooth Move Tea? I know its only a mild laxative but have found it to be brilliant and so far, no problems at all. Also peppermint oil in your belly button is supposed to be very good as well. Hope it helps!

I will log in tomorrow, take care all of you and thanks for your good wishes and prayers.

Hugs from a very hot Bahrain (49 deg)
