Can you be given percoset in an IV instead of Morphine?

If you can get percoset in an IV then I'd think that would eliminate the wonder of where the nausea cames from. I just wondered since I am due to have TAH next month.

ANETHESIA ??????what to ask for?????

That is TOTALLY my biggest fear. Had neck surgery 2 years ago - felt sore but fine in recovery, but then they gave me a morphine bolus once I got into my room because my blood pressure went up so high because of the pain. Then they fed me dinner - silly me, the morphine worked well and I didn't know what "NPO" meant, and obviously neither whomever served my dinner. Was scared to death when I knew I was going to get sick, because I'd just had a fusion, but they did a phenergan push through my IV and I felt fine and also slept really well.

All I can say is BE ADAMANT about nausea. Had a lap/endo removal/D&C last month and I told everyone in sight that I get nauseous easily. Since it was a same-day procedure, I didn't get anything, which ended up with me being sick four times after I got home. I'm scheduled for a TVH/cystocele/rectocele repair in about three weeks and the nausea is the main thing that has me freaked out.

My question is - if you have the spinal, do you really sleep like general anethesia? I'm a major wimp and don't want to hear or know anything that's going on. I will ask my doctors about the Zofran. Thanks for the info - if I can get that I will be much more at ease.

ANETHESIA ??????what to ask for?????

I was very adamant with the anesthesiologist, making him aware that I would have post-op nausea and that I have acid reflux disease. I have had many surgeries over the years, and get very sick to my stomach when I am in the recovery room. Unfortunately, my appeals did no good.

Within a couple of hours of waking up from surgery, I became very nauseous, and begged for medicine. Within minutes after they injected it, I started vomiting. The nurse had never gotten me a bedside kit, so I was told to just do it all over the bed. It soaked me through and through and even went on the floor. The nurse didn't even come back, but sent an assistant to clean up the mess.

Now, I really didn't want to tell any of you this, because I don't want to scare you.... But all I can say is, for your own sake, BE ADAMANT about the anti-nausea drugs, and I pray that you will be fine!
