How does everyone stay calm?

I've been posting more recently because things just keep getting worse---right now, I am dealing with fibroids, non-stop periods (I've had some type of bleeding since Dec 19!!), cramping, and now the possibility of a prolapsed uterus.

I've been researching fibroids like a maniac since I found out I had them, but Uterine Prolapse...that is new to me. I've read so many places that the main reasons for hysterectomy are: fibroids, endo, and prolapsed uterus.

I just feel like all my options have run out--
plus, I am far from home going to college, and am terrified that I will need to go the ER and will have to have an emergency hysterectomy.
Just a few weeks ago I felt as if there WERE options for me, now I am confused, a bit scared, and upset.

Sorry for the rant, I just feel a bit overwhelmed right now, and was wondering how some of you deal with the stress when things are looking bleak.

everyone here is such an inspiration--sometimes it helps just knowing you are not alone in this crazy world.

How does everyone stay calm?

Not eveyone who has fibroids will have a proplapse - it is a possibility. I personally got 8+ years out of my hysterectomy, unklike many that i am reading here. I am unsure if it is due to I had a great doc that built a great vaginaly cuff and to be honest when I had a hysterectomy i never researched that possibility. Issues now are arising for me again and re-visiting gyn issues is scary for me. The one think I can suggest is that you see an infertility doctor - this type of doctor is the best at treating fibroids/endo ect as these are issues that later lead to infertility. I remember having heavy non stop periods for 3 years, the pain cramping ect. The best advise someone gave me is take a deep breath - deal with one issue at a time - going away from home and having to deal with this is scary i could imagine --my prayers are with you

Slow, deep breath ... exhale ... slow, deep breath ... exhale ... try to remember that one way or another, you will get through this.

It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the well-meaning advice to do our own research into everything, and that's great up to a point. For me, the best approach has been to research enough to identify an option that I like and learn what questions to ask, and then to go out and talk to someone who specializes in it. Us "ladies' issues" are being worked on by gynecologists, radiologists, etc., but they don't communicate well with each other. It's like the Sharks and the Jets out there.

Talk to more than one doctor. I don't know much about prolapse, but LTarM's suggestion to talk to an infertility specialist sounds like a good one. Take care, take deep breaths ... keep us posted.
