She wants me on Lupron for a month?

Doc agreed that I am good for SAH! Originally scheduled for TVH. She want's to put me on Lupron to shrink my (is it uturus or fibroids?) anyway, it's to shrink something. She told me that it will completely shut down my ovaries while I'm on it (that would be exactyly one month) Anyone here been taking "Lupron"? Did it help during your surgery?

Hi

The Lupron will shrink your fibroids. I had it for 3 months to shrink a single enormous fibroid and so make the surgery 'safer' ... in that the fibroid would be smaller and easier to remove.

Sometimes it takes longer than a month to shrink, so don't worry if you end up having an extra shot or two.

She wants me on Lupron for a month?

I only took Lupron after my lap but not before any surgery. But I have endometriosis so it's a little different. It makes sense for your doc to want to shrink your fibroids before surgery. It seems it would help make the removal of them easier on her and you.
And, yes, it does shut down your ovaries.....so you may experience symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, nights sweats and mood swings. I only experienced hot flashes and night sweats. But, just think of it all as a means to an end.
Good luck!
