taking my only ovay left 4 yrs later... (2009): UPDATED 2021

I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago. They took everything but left one ovary because I was 39 at the time. I'm using the vivelle dot. After a year of pain I asked the doctor and found out I have a cyst on my ovary. They are removing the ovary 6/11 and I'm wondering what to expect?!?

I'm sorry to hear you will be having another surgery. Your recovery may depend on how the surgery is going to be done. Are you having a lap or an open incision?

I had a lap....

I went to the doctor yesterday and was told my vagina looks very young and healthy. It’s not my age but the estradiol patches I use. I have been using two for years- .05 and .1 changed every third day. I am 55 and had a hysterectomy at 39. I am not suffering the side effects so many friends are with menopause now and I am grateful. So on the other end it is good! Stay the course ladies it’s worth it!

Thanks for coming back to share your update! It's wonderful that you are doing well on the estradiol patches. I had my TAH/BSO when I was 45 and now at 65, I'm still using hormone therapy. Most of those years I have been on estradiol patches. My plan is to continue to use estrogen forever, and my doctor supports that decision.
