4 Years Post Op Adhesion Pain - NON surgical pain relief ideas

Had my hysterectomy several years ago. When I'm extra active, doing a lot of torso twisting, my lower right qudrant hurts sometimes for days.

I've gotten everything all checked out - Im healthy, minus this occasional stupid adhesion pain.

Really don't want to do surgery. (and everything I'm finding online talks about surgery or is advice to avoid getting).

Help - What have you found that works the best when adhesion pain flares up? Heat or ice, certain stretches, NSAIDs or general pain killers, other ideas/fixes?

Re: Adhesion Pain - NON surgical pain relief ideas

I don’t know if it’s adhesions or nerve damage, but I have had pain since my (troublesome) hysterectomy 10 years ago. I took prescription meds for 9 of those years, but quit last summer after they began to make me too exhausted to function.

Since then, I have relied on heating pads, magnesium cream, hot baths (or hot tub) and lidocaine patches. Honestly, my pain is about the same as it was WITH all those prescription meds! It does get aggravated by activity. Heat really helps.

I feel for you, this can be a tough row to hoe. I too have been imaged and tested six ways from Sunday, with nothing found.

Please rely on your Hyster Sisters when it all gets to be too much!

Re: Adhesion Pain - NON surgical pain relief ideas

I thought I had adhesions for many years after my tah/bso. Than had surgery for a looksee, not a one adhesion was found, yet I continued to have pain. I was on pain meds for many many years. I than found a very good acupuncturist. I have been off all pain meds for many years and am 99% pain free.

I do still have issues, but I am fully functioning. Have learned a lot about my body through this process.
