South Alabama Here!!

Hi All! just looking around for some girls from my area. I know you are out there! I am scheduled for a LAVH on May 22, 2007. Yes, I'm on the count down. 17 days left!! If anyone out there is close to me, let me know! I'm having surgery in Fairhope, Alabama. Maybe a sister out there has had my same procedure at the same hospital and can give me some insight on what to expect.

Looks like we are the only 2 alabama girls around here. i see that your surgery is close to mine. i will have a partcial hsyer on the 23rd of May, along with a bladdar tact and a rectal something or another. i am 29. i hope things go great for you. Maybe we will both be better than ever, post-op!

Hi, ladies, and welcome to hystersisters!

I'm up the road from you, Candle817. I had my LAVH and bladder tack across the bay at the MI. I have family members that have had procedures done in Fairhope and they haven't had any problems with the facility or the personnel. If you're not having any repair work done, such as a rectocele (looking, that's probably what you're having done with your hyst), cystocele, or enterocele, you will probably get to go home the next day. I didn't have much pain, but then my gynecologist recommended that I take all of my pain medication. You need to take it easy for the 1st 2 weeks--no driving while you're on the pain meds. My gyn told me not to lift anything heavier than my fork (no kidding!) and to rest. You have only 1 chance to heal properly. Listen to your body. Don't overdo. I was off from work for 7 weeks. My gyn advises his patients to allow 4 to 6 weeks for recovery. I have a very physical job and wanted to return with no restrictions. My recovery was relatively problem free. The only problem I had was with granulation. That occurs when the vaginal cuff doesn't heal properly. Two silver nitrate treatments and that problem was taken care of.

Hello, i am just a jump away from you , in Atmore. I had my LAVH on 2-8, at Mobile Infirmary, with few complications, just UTI's. Take plenty of time for your recovery, and take care of yourself. Hope you are home and resting when you receive this, let us know how you do.

I am from South alabama to.

I had my surgery at Thomas hopital in Fairhope in October of 2006. I have not had a hyster, but I had a bladder repair, vaginal repair and a rectal repair.

I'm from the Troy area, and two weeks ago I had my right ovary removed and most of my left. Wheee for me!! Darn dermoid cysts.

I hope you're feeling better!

I am about to go into Thomas on Tuesday for a Hyster and bladder tack any last minute words of help....do I need to take sanitary pads?
