weight lost after a Hysterectomy?

I just want to know if anyone has lost weight after a Hysterecomy? I was 353lbs and I got to 248 and than I had to have a Hysterectomy everything went,and I've been tryint to lose and I'm not its been over a year and I will yoyo and gain but losing its not moving,I exercise more eat less drink 8 to 10 waters and I walk 4 to 8 miles and something is wrong? HELP! anyone out there know what has me not losing. is it the hysterectomy? thanks Balinda

It's not uncommon to have weight issues following surgery. One problem could be due to a hormonal imbalance. A thyroid imbalance can also cause weight problems. However, it is possible to lose weight after a hysterectomy. I had problems for about the first year post op, but was finally able to shed the extra pounds I had put on before the surgery. It does take more effort on my part to keep it off. It sure does seem to come back faster. I do believe that part of it is menopause and part of it is the fact that I am getting older.

I do think you should talk with your doctor about this. He/she may want to run some bloodwork to be sure that everything is okay with your thyroid and hormones.

I was over weight when I found out about my cancer. Then throught the last six months of surgeries and recovery, I put on fifteen more pounds.
I`m feeling better now and have joined WeightWatchers. After one week I`ve ost 5 lbs.
I`m going to lose a hundred then go on a trip some where as a reward/

I was around 385 when I had my hyst.

I'm now 130 lbs lighter. Hard work, but it's doable.

I will admit, I have a tool to help. I have a lapband.

I STILL do the work, limiting my food intake (3oz of protein, 1/2 cup veggies per meal 3x day, plus a snack) and exercise (minimum of 30 min/day) BUT the band helps by reducing the hunger I used to deal with.

If you don't want to (or can't) do a lapband, you might consider looking into the book .. "The Beck Diet Solution". It's a cognitive behavior approach to dieting. I find it helpful.

The lapband was the best thing I've ever done for myself. It's not without its drawbacks, but its a way out of obesity w/o rerouting my innards and totally reversible (if needed).
