Hi Eliza,

Sorry to hear about your set back. I know it is soooooo frustrating and disapointing. As you have read I have changed my surgeon can you get a different urologist who might do the mesh? Did you post a new tread on the main board? I hope you get some answers.

Hugs to you too.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 31-Sep 06,2009

I had the laparoscopy yesterday and the surgeon found an incisional hernia that was causing all my pain and other issues. He did a mesh repair and I am quite sore, but the drugs are great. I always knew that there was something wrong and it was not right. It is a relief to know that this hopefully will resolve my problems. My advice to anybody is if it does not feel right complain and do not let anyone talk you down, after all it is our bodies and who knows them better only ourselves. I have another six weeks of complete and utter resting, can only lift a glass for the next six weeks. I am cross that I was not listened to earlier, and was fobbed off by healing process etc. I am off work since september and it is going to be another while before I can go back. I am lucky my boss understands. I could have lost my job over this. If my first dr listened to me in the first place I would not be in this situation now. If any of you have any issues demand to be seen if not by your original doctor then insist on another one. The dr that this surgery for me is a consultant surgeon, a very nice man, I kept saying to him I didn’t imagine all this did I, he said certainly not. I know we put our lives in these people’s hands and let them dictate the pace etc because we consider them the experts, but sometimes they can be so full of their own importance they do not listen or want to hear when something is not right or that they have created another problem.

Eliza....you have some decisions to make. I hope you find doctors you trust....keep going until you do....as many of us have mentioned, you know your body best - push until you get all the information and answers you need
Good luck

Paula, I'm so glad to hear the surgery was successful. All you can lift is a glass? hmmmm.....well, once you're off your nice new meds, switch to wine......a wine glass might even be lighter for you than a regular tumbler
Take care. At least you know, from going through previous surgery, the importance of following post-op restrictions....
I'll let you know if/when I hear back from my surgeon - as long as it's taking I'm thinking he must be calling all over Canada, not just Ontario!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 31-Sep 06,2009

Hi all,

Just a quick update, doing ok, it is quite painful, but not as bad as the hyster, pain meds great. had a bit of a problem moving but that issue sorted itself at 5.00 this morning. I have taken senekot, mil par, eating prunes, pears, soup etc so cant understand how it happened, the dr warned me not to get constipated, any ideas. he also said to eat lightly for a few days which i have been doing. I am resting well, i have a nurse with me in the bed, dont worry it is my West Highland Terrier, lilly who wont leave my side, I know she shouldn't be on the bed but this is special circumstances.

Kelly any news with you, how are you feeling. waiting for another few days for my glass of wine, I need the pain meds for another few days so it will have to be the tumbler for another while.

Hugs and regards to all

Paula...glad to hear Lilly is around to keep you company! Re: the constipation....sounds like you're doing everything right - I can't think of anything else to try other than tons of water, which I'm sure you're drinking. Take care.
No news from my surgeon yet....he must be racking up quite a phone bill

Hi Paula - so glad to hear things are going in the right direction even if things arent moving (hee hee.) One thing that helps me with that problem is senna tea. It is the same ingredients as senakot but in a tea form. 8-10 hours after 1 cup and all is well. I got the tea bags at the vitamin shoppe. Best of luck!
