Any food high in iron is good for a blood booster. Usually that is dark green leafy vegetables.

There are many reason's to be tired though encluding being in pain and thyroid problems.

well I have been told if you can handle the taste of it that eating liver helps. I can hear alot of you going YUK! allready but I have doctors tell me that it does help boost the iron count.Cathy

I've had quite a bit of nutritional training from my line of work and this is what I learned. Improving iron levels (if they are measurably low) is good. If you are a vegetarian this is going to be harder but not impossible. Slow release Iron tablets are available and the strongest ones are from behind the counter but you don't need a prescription and I got 40 of them for less than $2.00. If you will eat meat, Beef is best, but liver grosses me out ideaologically. Green leafy vegetables and cooking in cast iron really seems to help me. Iron is absorbed better when present with vitamin C and B, according to what I've read and been taught repeatedly. Iron pills can make you constipated, which could be a problem post-op. As a lifelong athlete I've always been looking for the energy edge and think Iron for women is extremely important to look at. For awhile I did away with cooking in cast iron, became anemic again, went back to cast iron, more beef, vitamin C at every meal and that did the trick. I also eat lots of veg's. and think cooking tomato based things in cast iron is especially good for the acid from the tomatos interacts with the cast iron and the vitamin c is there. No it doesn't taste metallic. Also try to hum the old Black Sabbath song...I am Ironman or substitute Ironmom. sign me Iron Noom
