Staples? Staples? Oh No, Not STAPLES!!

Cyndi ....
I had a bunch of staples (the doctor put in extra because my incision was a little longer than usual). I had pain meds and ibuoprofin 800mg that I got when I left the hospital. The nurse told me to take either one of the percistets or an ibuprofin before I came in to have them removed, and it really helped. Most came out pretty easy, there were just a couple that were a little more stubborn, then the dr. replaced the staples with tape.
Not nearly as bad as I had thought it would be, and I had never had staples before. I liked them much better than having sutures cut and removed!! You will do great!!! Let us know how the pre-op goes!

Staples? Staples? Oh No, Not STAPLES!!

This morning my staples were removed. I took a pain pill before I went 'just in case'. It went very smoothly. Only 2 gave me twinges but only for a second. The nurse then put tape strips over the incision. They will come off next week when I go in to be checked. After that, I only have one more appointment, I think; then I'm on my own.

Cyndi,

I was worried about my staples too. On my surgery date thread one of the ladies really made me laugh. She advised me to use those staples to make the best of my situation. I can't remember exactly how she put it, but something to the point of whenever your family isn't understanding just what you are going through, just give 'em a glimse of those beautiful metal staples and they will be begging to get you whatever you need. At first I thought "gross", but then laughed at the thought of what my 14 year old daughter's face would look like. Never used the plan myself but it gave me a chuckle and I thought it might make you laugh as well!!!!

They really weren't so back and getting them out was a good day for me. I felt so much better.
