Awwww, Amoureux! I'll be your friend

Lysippe, yeah I'm dreading the short term disability .... it's supposed to be all in order and ready to go, all the paper work is in .... but we'll see! Bills will be due, I wonder if my creditors will be kind ??

I waited too long to take my pain meds. Now I'm sitting here unable to move without a great deal of discomfort. Burning in my left side, somewhere, all over actually. Want to cough, don't want to cough ... Yep, still recovering LOL

Did alot of walking around today, just around the house, upstairs, outside just for a bit. Is that okay? Or should I be mostly sitting? Definitely not anywhere close to driving yet. And jeans will be a distant memory once I'm able to wear them again I think.

Had my TVH,A/P repair/Sling

Hey all - I had my TVH with anterior/posterior repair and bladder sling on the 29th. Unfortunately, my two hour surgery turned into a four hour surgery - doc said everything was much more out of place than she anticipated and was much more difficult to fix, but it went well and all is back where it should be. I also lost too much blood and had a low crit with some blood pressure problems afterwards. In my case, the waiting wasn't the worst - the pain was as bad and worse than I feared. I am still having to take my pain meds, though last night/this morning was the first time I didn't wake up as soon as the medication wore off, so I'm making progress! My four procedures really made it very difficult, and all last week I felt as though I wasn't going to make it through, and wished I had not done it. Truthfully today, one week later, I feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and I will make it through, but it will definitely be slow.

Thanks to all of the encouragement from all of the ladies who went before me with their TVHs - I truly believe if I had not had the three other procedures, the pain would not be near as intense and I would be bouncing back faster.

There are a couple of other ladies who have the same uterine prolapse problems I had, so please feel free to ask me any postop questions you would like - I'd be glad to help!

Hi everyone.

TAH/BSO Oct 31, 8 am. Finally home from the hospital, had an excellent surgery with great looking incision but have had a really difficult time with a tender (slightly injured) bladder. Tests show no cuts, leaks or holes in the bladder but the tumors were slightly adhered to the bladder and it had to be scraped away from the tumor/cervix.

We tried removing the catheter on Friday and again on Saturday but subsequent episodes of agonizing pain (nearly passed out once) resulted in several re-insertions and me coming home a day late on Sunday with catheter and bag in place... Ouch. I've never felt pain like this but thank goodness for percoset and hydrocodone! Since yesterday - I been mostly only slightly uncomfortable. Catheter is keeping my bladder from spasms and letting me sleep through the night.

As of today - I finally started eating (real food!), passing gas and having regular bowel movements (still painful but at least they are here!). Incision is beautiful, clean, no infections and only a very low-grade (99) fever keeping me feeling a bit "off".

I saw the pictures of the "uterus" it was a volleyball-sized mass of tumors that was really ugly! So glad I had it removed.

Now I'm looking forward to getting the catheter out next week (bladder will need a week to heal) and starting on HRT journey.

Thanks for any support or recommendations for food that is easy to eat and tasty. So far I've loved mashed potatoes, apple sauce and chicken noodle soup. Tonight I ate a turkey sandwich (yum).

I am so sorry for the lack of support.while i do have lots of friends and i have a wonderfull mother that lets me live with her rent free(i pay everything but the house paymen)I really don't have anybody here during the day.My best friend was supposed to be helping me but the day after my discharge from the hosptial she came over to my house and passed out on my back door step.I had to call 911 for her and she just got out of the hospital today.she found out she has type 2 diabeties!so much for that help.I have to keep telling my self not to take care of her that i have to take care of me!My mom gets off work at 7pm and I do have one of my friends that checks on me at about 2pm every afternoon but it gets really lonely talking to my self and the cats and dogs!hang in there it will get better(at least that is what everybody tells me!)

I too am in a weird situation as far as care - I live about 1.5 hours from my closest friends and live alone. I ended up staying the first night at the hospital and the 2nd night at my parents, but REALLY wanted to get home. I also have a small zoo so I kept my dog sitter on schedule so I didn't have to deal with getting up and feeding, taking out, etc. for a few days. Stores and even mail are at least a car ride away but so far, so good. I know if I'd ASKED someone to come and stay with me, they would have but 1. I'm one that HATES asking for help and 2. I had such an easy surgery/recovery that I don't think I'm pushing myself. If I had a more extensive surgery I probably would have stayed at friends - or at the worst, a hotel somewhere, lol.

Hey Ladies,

Had my TAH/BSO Fri Nov 2, just got home today (Tuesday). All went great with surgery and in recovery. My blood pressure plummeted the following day and things went a bit downhill from there.

But I'm home and glad to be on this side with you all. Want to read more when I get the strength.

I can't tell you all how jealous I am that you all have had friends and DH's support. I went to my daughter's after surgery and stayed there for 3 days. My kids were extremely supportive and loving! On Saturday I drove the hour and a half home and have been alone ever since. I haven't made a lot of friends since moving here, so I've really been on my own. I was smart enough to go grocery shopping before I went to the castle and got things I could microwave.

I guess it's really a blessing that I've had such an easy time, because I'd be here alone even if it were bad. My hubby died about 3 yrs ago and I've been concentrating on my career since then... wish I had lots of friends right now!

WoW... I'm really feeling sorry for myself huh??

Trying to remember to take care of the princess!

Sorry!
Hi, Girlfriend. My heart goes out to you on the loss of your husband. If my husband dies, (he's 20 years older than I), I sometimes think I will take a long walk off a short pier. I'm really glad that this group exists and that you're here with us. They are just a fantastic group of loving, smart, funny ladies who really care about you. And so do I.
