Note to LIW from PP of 5+ months

To all of you Ladies in Waiting:

I am now 5 1/2 months post-op after TVH, oophorectomy, bladder repair, repair of rectocele - guess I had "the works"!

I feel GREAT. No regrets at all.

It took some time to feel this way, mind you! I felt tired for four months, but that has now passed.

I picked up some weight along the path somewhere... but I've lost twelve pounds now and am exercising every day. Yes, my tummy got a little bigger than it was, but now that I am exercising and watching my diet, my waist went down THREE INCHES in just one month.

My hormone therapy has been working beautifully. No complaints. Only one small change was made to add a bit more estrogen when I started having hot flashes about two weeks post-op. I take estradiol and estratest.

My libido is WONDERFUL and now that there is no more heavy, prolonged bleeding... and everything is tightened up and back where it should be... sex is better than ever. This, too, took time and it still feels just a bit uncomfortable for the first minute or so, but I had my first "Big O" during intercourse this week and it was every bit as good as before. (We waited until the doc gave his go-ahead, which is EXTREMELY important! - but I could have orgasms long before then and they were good... just took a while to get the nerves functioning internally again.)



When I first came here, I read again and again that "The waiting is the hardest". I didn't believe it one bit, but now I can tell you that it really, truly is.

Thanks for the post Nancy. My surgery is tomorrow and I am so excited. My DH keeps teasing me because he cannot believe anyone could be so excited to have major surgery. Although he does understand why I am excited - no more feeling like I am bleeding to death, no more severe stomach and back pain, no more tampax and maxipads, and of coarse I cannot leave out that he and I can now have sex anytime. I am looking forward to feeling as good as you are by summertime.

Nlames...... I am with you..... I too cannot wait till surgery and I know when people ask me.. Arent you scared...NO !!!!!! As I cannot wait for the same things.... I know I am actually BEAMING!!! I am sure that I dont glow YET!!!!!! Glad to hear you are doing so well. Thanks for the info...... Take care Delores..... 21 days and counting........
