Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

Hannie - I never thought that heartburn could be related to this, but now that I think about it, I've been getting nasty heart burn for a few months now, and I've never been the kind of person who has stomach upset easily or heartburn (even through 2 pregnancies). And I've also been peeing a LOT, especially when it gets closer to that time of the month.

iamblessed - It also feels like labour to me when the cramps get bad. What's worse is that it feels like both regular contractions AND back labour. I'll be so happy when this is over.

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

I never thought my heartburn was related either. I even went to a GI doctor a few months prior to my TAH because I had almost constant nausea. He couldn't figure out what was wrong, but prescribed Protonix which alleviated my stomach issues. When my other symptoms (backache, frequent urination, feeling of fullness, headaches, etc.) became unbearable my GYN decided it was time for surgery. At that time she told me my fibroids were pushing everything up in my abdomen and the pressure was forcing my stomach acid up and causing the nausea.

I'm now just over 4 weeks post-op and it feels GREAT to no longer be suffering from those problems. I especially enjoy sleeping through the night and not having to get up and pee!

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

That is what happened with me, I went to the GI doc and thought it was an ulcer or something but they found nothing. My GYN said it was the pressure of the uterus and fibroids pushing up but they didnt know for sure until it was taken out and he said it was most definatly pushing everything up. The only other times in my life that I had heartburn was when I was pregant and I actually had 2 pregnancy tests because some of the syptoms (if not most) seemed to be like being pregnant.

I hope things all work out for you and that you find as much relief as I have.

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

I use to have real bad hear burn and sour stomach monthly. I never related it to the Adeno. I don't suffer half as much. I am still on Nexium. I take antacids very infrequently. My GI doctor tells me I only has Gastritis now.

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

Having been recently diagnosed with Adenomyosis, I'm so thankful you started this thread. I've been having problems with SI joint dysfunction as well as severe pain in my legs. Pain management doc's always thought this was related to a heel spur I have on my left heel; guess they thought I might be overcompensating for pain in the heel which over time, has affected my right SI joint and subsequently the piriformis muscle. the tightening of the piriformis, they think is what is causing the leg pain. Their diagnosis has lead to several rounds of injections that help for a time, but not long term. The more I read and learn about adenomysis; I am more and more convinced that the adenomyosis may be a big reason for the SI joint dysfunction and leg pain. A few days ago, I was super nervous at having scheduled hysto surgery (Nov. 19) but now I am relieved to know that there may be an end in sight to this constant 24/7 leg pain.

I am so thankful for this site and all that I have learned in just a few short days!!

I had Adenomyosis and had LSH on Sept. 28th. I know that I suffered with much lower back and occasional leg pains, especially if I was walking alot. Also, I used to get some pain if I had a strenous day coming from my pelvic area. It was all mysterious. I now think that the Adeno was the reason for much of it. I was diagnosed with Adeno the first week of August and scheduled the LSH after I realized that I had no other options. I did do much research which brought me to this website. Hystersisters has been a great source of information for me.

APERFECTSUNSET
So you are a few weeks post op? Have you noticed improvement in your back and leg pain?

Thank you so much for confirming my new found suspicions. Praying you are stronger and healthier every day!

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

iwangeri0822 - Thank you, I am getting better every day. I still am experiencing back pain, however my leg pain is GONE! The back pain that I have now I am sure is still from the surgery and recovery. I am not as active yet and still not comfortable in sleeping positions. Time will tell. What I do know is that I was in alot of pain with Adenomyosis every day. My pain used to wake me up in the middle of the night and go right down to my legs. Seriously, it would put me in tears. Having LSH was the best decision I made!

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

I have a few issues - like migraine and arthritis along with adeno, but I'll try to limit it to my week surrounding my period:

lower back pain
aches down inner thighs
cramping
pulling/twitching pain on left (near ovary)
uterus and abdomen tender to touch
swelling almost a whole clothing size up
very heavy bleeding, soaking through clothes, had to scrub carpet once because of the gushing
increased cramping with tampons (I gush around them too)
large sometimes painful clots
migraine
general achiness and misery (I tell people it's like a recurring flu, but menstrual)
breast tenderness
nausea
increased tiredness
usually one night of insomnia
loose bowel movements

spotting throughout the month, including surprise gushing of blood

Re: Adenomyosis: Full list of symptoms?

Anyone else get anxiety? The anxiety seems to get worse the worse my period is.

I have been diagnosed with adenomyosis and am awaiting a surgery date and ultrasound. Doc also thinks I have a fibroid. My uterus is now the size of a 16-week pregnancy (growing over the years). My symptoms:

- only moderate bleeding, but with clots
- SEVERE stabbing pain in my upper abdomen right after period starts
- cramps all over pelvis before and during period
- cramps during ovulation
- diarrhea
- migraines
- sacroiliac joint pain (sometimes very severe)
- stabbing pain with bowel movements (sometimes)
- extreme fatigue before and during period
- lightheadedness
- heart palpitations (probably from anemia)
- bloating
- nausea before and during period

Can't wait to get rid of this sucker! The worst parts by far are the SI joint pain, the stabbing pain, and the fatigue. Wish Dr. had suggested hysterectomy sooner, or that I had whined more. I'm not a complainer at all, and have a very high tolerance for pain. Compared to the pain I get every month (which nearly sends me to the ER), I think the hysterectomy will be a piece of cake (I've had two c-sections, and those were a walk in the park).
