Bladder sensitivity after sex

Hello,

I had my hysterectomy in 12/2018. My ex husband had prostate cancer shortly after my hysterectomy so I only had sex once since then. We divorced in January (for other reasons, not his loss of function) and I recently started seeing someone last month. I had some pretty decent scar tissue from the surgery and when using a vibrator it was really painful. I wasn’t sure I would be able to have sex

Fast forward, to first experience. It was painful but after a few times things seemed to loosen up a bit and now it isn’t bad. My issue is that every time we have sex, it feels like a bladder infection coming on almost immediately. It feel like there is pressure in my bladder and it doesn’t hurt to pee but it feels very sensitive and like there is pressure in there.

I have gone to my gynecologist twice for this and no STD and no UTI. She was thinking that maybe my bladder is being “hit” so to speak because of the loss of cervix and thinning of tissue from little to no sex for a few years and that it’s causing swelling or bladdder irritation.

Any thoughts?

Another question, I still have my ovaries but find it hard to stay lubricated. I’m using lubricant and some natural vitamin E and coconut oil suppositories but it’s not great. It feels to me like things are looser in there than before. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve always done kegels but not regularly. In the last month or so I have weighted balls that I’ve started to use to try and strengthen my pelvic floor. Has anyone had luck using these because they do not seem to be doing a whole lot. Im considering getting the O Shot (PRP shot) to see if that helps. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Re: Bladder sensitivity after sex

My first thought is that you might benefit from using vaginal estrogen. It can help plump those tissues and also can help with vaginal elasticity and moisture. It's worth asking your doctor about that possibility.

Thank you! I was using it right after surgery but my surgeon said not to use it anymore Since I still had my ovaries intact and she did not want any of the risks that are unnecessary for me.

Re: Bladder sensitivity after sex

sounds like you need vaginal estrogen? why did your dr want you to stop it? it keeps the vaginal walls plump which protects the urogenital tract. I kept my ovaries and they worked perfectly after surgery and I've been using vaginal estrogen for probably 14 years. I'll never stop using it.
