Whats next on the worry meter

Okay everyone..my surgery is on Tueday(YIKES) and I need to do the big "bowel prep" on Monday DOUBLE YIKES!! I am going to start around 10 a.m. I have the miralax/dulcolax combo. I've never done this before so I must ask...am I going to get anything done? I've heard so many people who say "oh boy, well you might as well just wheel the t.v. in the bathroom since you will be there all day" I'm like oh crap (literally and figuratively lol) I mean I was planning on making one more freezer meal and get some laundry done but now I am afraid that I will not be able to do anything.
How bad is it really? How long before it starts to um...work? I mean I know what to expect for the most part but geez I would like to think that I will have some time to enjoy my last day somewhat. So seriously everyone...why am I freaking out about this? It's silly I know but I tend to dwell so much on things that I start to make myself sick with worry. I just want to know what I'm in for.
Thanks for listening ladies. You have been my source of comfort and hope during this!

Re: Whats next on the worry meter

I'm sure the bowel prep is a little different for everyone but my experience with it was this...I started drinking it at around 4 pm the day before surgery. It took about an hour for it to kick in and then I was in and out of the bathroom until about 10 pm. I was able to sleep that night. I don't remember having to get up to go. I think I went a couple more times before I left for the hospital the next day. I was so glad when that was over with Good luck!

Re: Whats next on the worry meter

My doctor had be drink mag. citrate starting at 4pm the day before surgery. Started with 1/2 a bottle and if no results within an hour I was to drink the other half. I ended up drinking the entire bottle with no results until around 10pm. Ok then it was bad and the day of surgery it was still bad. All that to say, it depends on your body and I wish my doctor had started me a little earlier. I had a tough pre-surgery night and kept going to the bath room while trying to get checked in the morning of surgery. Wishing you good luck!
