I'm afraid it's pretty much a case of how long is a piece of string? Everyone is different and is also depends on which surgery.

I only had very light bleeding in the first 24 hours, immediately following surgery, and then absolutely nothing after that.

I had a TAH/RSO (left ovary
already out) and had no bleeding at all.

I also had a TAH/BSO and the only bleeding I had was 10 days after surgery I had my staples out. To and from the Dr.'s office was about 1 1/2 hrs ride over some bumpy road at times.

Every story is different. I do have to tell you I am finding comfort in the fact that no one has a horror story.

I had a cold knife cone of my cervix a few weeks ago. Knowing that I would end up with a hysterectomy my doctor was very aggressive in the amount of cervix removed. In her words: I have "a gaping hole up there." 2 Weeks post-op I had complications and started hemorrhaging. With many procedures prior to the cone I have been bleeding heavy for months. I know that bleeding after TAH is not unheard of but I wanted to know what some real experiences were. Thank you

So glad to know that it seems to be manageable.

I had a TAH/BSO in October and had no bleeding or discharge.

LSH last month. Very little discharge.

TAH BSO, Nothing yet. (almost 3 weeks post op)

I had an SAH (I kept my ovaries and some of my cervix) and had some bleeding after the operation, but no more than I would have had during a period and it eased off after a couple of days.

I had a LAVH and only had light spotting the first 2 days and now I'm almost 3 weeks post op and only very very minimal brownish discharge. I only have to wear a pantyliner. Not complaining, being that I was going through a package of 40 maxi's a week prior to hysto
