KEEP OVARIES ? cervical 1b1

If you want more information on trachelectomy, you can do a search. We do have a couple of ladies over on Cancer Concerns who have had a trachelectomy, but I'm not sure if any have had a radical trachelectomy.

They typically only do a trachelectomy for women who are hoping to preserve their fertility. The cervix is removed but the uterus left behind, and then the lower end is stitched to form a cerclage (artificial cervix) leaving a small opening for the passage of fluids.

KEEP OVARIES ? cervical 1b1

Hi Ladies, I am having my hysterectomy Jan. 10 (yes, this Tuesday) and I still haven't decided if I will keep my ovaries, but I found a VERY interesting article from Aug 1, 2005, that all of you might want to read. I like it because it addresses keeping your ovaries when you are over age 45. Read it if you have time. Maybe it has already been talked about here and I apologize if it has, but it is WORTH READING. Here it is:

Good luck to all of us having surgery this week!
