Questions...

Hey Everyone!

Just a couple of questions.

1. I have shooting pains that runs down my thighs....what it that from. Usually at period time.
2. The lower back pain is terrible and that is not just during that time of the month. Its almost everyday. Is that normal with 6 cm fibroid and two 3 cm fibroids? As far as I know I don't have lower back injury. Its the same pain in the back when having a baby or during your periods.
3. After a hyster I have read that even with a lsh or lsvh woman are very emotional?????? Why if you keep your ovaries? Then your depressed for the rest of your life and on pills??

Your all lucky I only have three questions today!!!!!!!!!!

Questions...

I won't even try to guess at the answers to your first two questions. I can tell you that I kept one ovary and like many other sisters can tell you, it's not uncommon for your ovaries to go into shock or take a nap for a little bit. They should eventually wake up. In the meantime, you experience a little bit of menopause. Nothing too bad that you can't live through and a great trade off in the end. I can report that mine is back up and running and I am no longer experiencing all those things I had right after surgery. I think some women chose hrt for the short term while they are waiting on their bodies to get readjusted. As far as the emotional part, some of this is hormone related and some is just your body's way of adjusting to surgery. It will all end. Hope that helps.

Questions...

Hi Oceanmist,

I agree with Kbro78. In post-op, sometimes the ovaries can go to sleep for awhile, due to the trauma of surgery. Some ladies have it happen and some do not. With me, my ovaries did not go to sleep after my LSH.

On the shooting pain down the leg...I had it with my fibroids. I'd be walking and then....ouch...right down my leg. In my opinion, I think the fibroid pressure on the pelvic area can cause pressure on the veins, arteries and nerves that run down the leg. My very un-medical remedy?? I started eating one banana a day. To up my potassium level. My teenage daughter suggested it. It really helped for some reason!!! Today, I still try to eat bananas for the nutritional value.

Best wishes,

Mary

Questions...

My pelvic pains also went down the tops of my thighs. My back pains were more of an intense ache, not shooting. GYN said the pelvic nerves send signals all over the place and it's not uncommon for women with a "bad uterus" to have pain at the tops of their thighs. I still get them from time to time, but he said the hyst takes care of them for most women.

I had my ovaries removed with my hyst and was an emotional wreck a week later. I was afraid I'd stay that way, but luckily a change in HRT corrected that. !

Good luck with your decisions.

Beth

Questions...

Hey Girls!
I'm just wondering here ........can your hormones be affected by having large fibroids and bulking uterus? I feel tired and really terrible and I wonder if that has anything to do with it as well....

Oh and I'd like to back track on the shooting pain. In the front it kind of a suddenly sents pain down my thighs in the the front of my legs. For the lower back pain it is constant and aching.............It hurts to stand, to lay down, to sit.........I think I'm going to go to the family doctor and get an xray of my lower back.....

Hi Oceanmist,

When I was in pre-op, I felt 80 instead of 46. What energy!!!!! You're right about that.
