PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
I'm at work, leaving in about 1 hour to go to my pre-op appointment and the anxiety is HIGH! It's starting to feel so real now. I scheduled my surgery about 5 weeks ago and it felt like it would be FOREVER! Now it's two weeks away and I'm heading to my pre-op.........holy ----!
I have my list of questions. DH is coming with me. But I feel like I might throw up! Can you imagine what I will be like before surgery if I'm this anxious NOW?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ladies!

PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
Take a deep breath and try to calm down. I know that's not easy; I was very nervous too. Pre-op's are usually not bad - lots of questions and an assortment of testing sometimes.
Taking your DH is a good idea, my sister went with me. 2 sets of ears are better than one, IMO. Maybe you and DH can enjoy lunch or dinner afterwards
I do remember that, as nervous as I was while waiting - I was very calm the morning of my surgery. I hope that you can be too

PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
Ok, that's done with. It went well and I was sooooo glad I had my list of questions, because once we got talking, I just about forgot every single one of them!
Got my instructions for bowel prep (YUCK!!) and some wash I have to bathe/shower with the day before and morning of my surgery..........interesting.
I asked for something to "help me get through the door" and she wrote a scrip for that and pain meds, etc so I can get them filled ahead of time.......that's cool. DH came with so he got all the instructions for post-op , etc. too, which makes me feel better. He's great anyway, I know I'll be well taken care of.
BUT - she said I should only be in the castle for 1 night? REALLY? I know other women here have said that, but it seems so strange to me, doesn't seem like it could possibly be long enough!! YIKES!
Anyway, still freaking out.......but have some questions answered so that's cool.
As always, thank you all for being here, don't know what I'd do right now without you!

PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
Are you serious, 1 night.....wow, I am counting on 5 but haven't had my preop appt yet, not until the 22 of Oct. I guess mine might be longer because it will either be abdominal or vaginal....day by day I get more and more anxious.....

PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
Loralee,
I was certainly amazed. I was assured that if there was some reason to keep me there I would be there as long as I needed to be, but that the plan was 1 night!
I was really nervous the first two weeks after scheduling, then I was ok. Now I've got less than two weeks to go and I'm starting to get real anxious again!
UGH!

PRE-OP Today, OMG, It's Getting REAL!
It all depends on the type of surgery your having. Mine was TAH and therefore was in 4 days but usually with TVH your only in 1 night
