Am I crazy???
Hi! My name is Lynni and just want to know if I'm crazy. I actually WANT a hystorectomy with my right ovary removed. I've suffered from heavy, extremely painful periods since I've been 12 (I'm 39 now). I have some Poly cystic overian disorder. I have occluded veins. And they've done 2 laps for a sciatic hernia that keeps pushing against/engulfing my right ovary. They fixed it a couple of weeks ago and I'm still in extreme pain. They think it's an infection, but aren't sure. The antibiotics don't seem to be helping. I've tried hormones to stop the periods. We recently had to double the dose. I'm just SO tired of being in pain. I'm sorry to whine. I just know that women are supposed to want children and avoid hysterectomies at any cost. And I WANT one. I want it over with. I do know there's no guarentee, but...I'm so tired of this pain. I discussed it breifly with my OB/GYN, who's one of the best in the nation, and he said that I'm old enough now to make this decision (I wanted one 5 years ago). Am I crazy??? Thanks, Lynni ]

No you're not crazy. I've wanted to preform my own hysterectomy some days when the pain is bad! Now that's crazy!

Am I crazy???
Sometimes I wonder if I'm nuts because I'm so excited to have this hyst. I just want to experience a somewhat normal life. I talk about having the hyst like a kid talks about Christmas. My work has gotten so crazy lately and I'm sick of dragging myself around holding my belly. Someone is bound to ask me if I'm pregnant and I'm going to have to say "I just HURT"! But of course everyone I work with has already heard the word cramps come out of my mouth more than once.

you arent crazy at all. you just want your quality of life to improve. since your dr is one of the best in the nation, ask him what types of hysterectomies you qualify for and do lots of research on all of them...how long average recoveries are, whether or not you want your cervix and both ovaries removed...how you will feel if you have to or choose to have them removed, etc. since you have time, the best thing you can do is research. good luck

Am I crazy???
Thanks everyone! I saw my doctor yesterday and we agreed that a complete hysterectomy is the next step. I almost feel better just because of this wonderful decision. But, then again they upped my pain meds. ha ha. It won't be able to be scheduled until December, but there is light on the horizon. I've even ordered the book and the journal and a mug and thank you cards. LOL I plan on going into this with my eyes wide open and I've already done a TON of research. I'm willing to deal with all of it to get rid of this pain. I look forward to supporting everyone here too!
