Large fibroids, change in apetite?

I have many, many large fibroids. The largest one found was 9cm and several at 5 cm. My uterus is the size of 22 week pregnancy. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and change of apetite. I can not eat large meals. I have no apetite for anything....except icecream. I just pretty much feel like crap all day long. Surgery is in 3 weeks.

Large fibroids, change in apetite?

Hi there - yes I have the same problem as you. I feel as though everything is fighting for space inside my abdomen and it's probably all pushing up against my stomach. I can only eat half the amount that I usually eat at mealtimes and have lost quite a bit of weight, which is a bit worrying as I'm quite slim anyway. It just makes my stomach look even larger!! (14 week uterus).

All the best for your upcoming surgery.

Large fibroids, change in apetite?

Wanted you ladies to know that I had the same problem pre-surgery, and lost quite a bit of weight -- 10 pounds in about a year. I'm 13 days post-op, and I still don't have much of an appetite, but that's apparently a common problem for a few weeks after the surgery. HOWEVER, I can eat more at a time now, and I don't feel full and queasy. I'm back to pre-surgery weight (after eating almost nothing for 4 days) and holding steady.

Large firoids, change in appetite

I am in the same boat as you. Four weeks till surgery for multiple large fibroids (26 weeks) and heavy bleeding. I was given a 3 month Lupron injection to attempt to ward off my next period (didn't work) to allow my iron level to get to a level safe for surgery. My appetite is nealy non-existent. I am constantlty thirsty, but only feel like eating very little to avoid being sick form the iron pills and vitamins. I have lost 8 pounds, but feel pretty bad overall. I keep reminding myself that I have 4 weeks to go and then I can focus on the healing. Hang in there! You are not alone in what you are felling.

Thanks! It is such a comfort to know that others are having similar issues. 20 days until my surgery!!! I am so excited...of course anxious too. Blessings to all of you who responded. Makes me smile!
