Hysterectomy on blood thinners? Also surgery and recovery questions

Hi everyone

Some history behind my story :

1. I was put on the yasmine pill due to pain in my stomach area ( I still think the doctor diagnosed me wrong ), a month and a half after taking the pill I got blood clots in both my lungs. I almost died. I was on blood thinners for 6 months and then taken off and everything was ok.

2. 5years later I got married and then 2 years after that we got pregnant. Everything was fine until week 31 when everything went scew very fast and our son was born prem but he is very strong and did very well. He was in NICU for 7 weeks and sent home. The first week he was home I got blood clots again in my lungs. Almost died again. I think it came from my leg after the c section but the doctors did not believe me. So now I've been on blood thinners since then.

It has been 2 years since my last blood clot and we have done so many tests etc and the risk is just too high to have another little one. A few doctors suggested that we don't have another one as the risks are just too high. So me and my husband decided now that we will not take the risk.

My doctor said hysterectomy is an option to avoid getting pregnant again. Although we will only take out my uterus as we can't mess with the hormones since that causes blood clots for some reason ( the tests did not say anything to be exact )

So I would like to know if any lady who is also on blood thinners and had a hysterectomy, how was it for you?

What is the complications afterwards?

Which option do you take? Stomach/vaginal etc?

Do you pick up weight afterwards?

Can you still run after having the procedure done?

Sorry for all the questions, it's just a very hard pill to swallow and any advice or experiences will help ease a sore and broken heart.

Thank you
