Oh cervix, do I want you? Will you still hurt? (Endo patient)

Wow, I never heard it put that way. I am wondering now if I should get another opinion. I am only 25 scheduled for TAH/BSO. I thought about seeing the specilist in Atlanta but wasnt sure how much he said I believed. Because it has yet to be proven that endo actually creates its own estrogen, that is still under study. But I do agree that it does, because alot of women who have hyst still have pain, you know?

Thank you all SO MUCH for your replies... it's so comforting to know there are others who have gone through this.

After asking a lot of people, reading studies, and thinking long and hard... I told my doc I wanted my cervix out. I have a very strong "gut feeling" I would regret it if I didn't... my endo is so aggressive and hasn't responded well to any other treatments. My aunt told me not to even bother if I was going to leave it in! (She left hers in and it still hurts!)

Thankfully, my doc is an endo specialist. He performed my previous lap endo removal; he should remove as much evil growth as possible!

They pushed my surgery back three days because of scheduling... the waiting is going to kill me! My ovaries are definitely still plotting against me.

I am so HAPPY for you! I really get scared when women say they are going to keep their cervix and/or ovaries when they have endo. Its just NEVER a smart thing. Although, that is just my opinion, I have been researching endo for YEARS now, heck, I wouldnt even have a HYST until I knew for sure I had ALL the facts. And I did find that alot of women with endo who choose to keep their cervix nd/or ovaries, say they are happy at first, then later when the pain returns they have to go back in for surgery. My TAH/BSO is on the 28th and although I know it is going to be painful, and hard to get through, I am excited about my life after recovery. I have never met me, withough periods, without pain, without ovulation, without endo and most of all with out cyst. I wonder if I will be nicer instead of so moody? LOL! I think the morst important thing is that you took time to see what is happenning or going to happen with your body, and made a very responsible decision that is best for you. I cant tell you how thrilled I am for you! I wish you all the best, and I do hope it is better on the other side.
