Hysterectomy? PCOS, endometriosis, multiple fibroids, and previous surgery

Debating if I should have a hysterectomy. I have had surgery 2 years ago and they treated for endometriosis, removed my L overy and tube from my colon, removed 2 fibroids, and a cyst from my R overy. I recently had another ultrasound because they found 2 more fibroids this time inside my uterus. Im starting to have major low back pain that has put me in the hospital 2 times and once via ambulance.

I am only 28 but do have one child. I feel ready for a hysterectomy because at 14 when all my cyst started rupturing, i was told i would need a hysterectomy. Now with. All these other issues i feel like im ready to just throw in the towel and have the surgery and just remove everything. I feel my quality of life would be better even if i do go menopausal at 28.

I have support from the female members of my family because i would be the 3rd generation to have a hysterectomy. The men as well as the doctor all feel i am too young to have everything removed.

Im a little lost, i feel A hysterectomy to remove all will help to end my suffering and allow me to start living the life i want and allow me to move around better to loose the 125 pounds i need to loose. Any advice?

Re: Hysterectomy? PCOS, endometriosis, multiple fibroids, and previous surgery

If your quality of life is being seriously compromised by your cycles then I am of the opinion that 28 is not too young to do something to improve your health and life. In fact I was just reading a post from a woman who had a hyster at the age of 21 due to Endo. You could flip the question and ask yourself "what am I waiting for before I take action?"

Obviously, loosing both ovaries will put you in surgical menopause and recovery from a hyster takes several weeks but these trade-offs may well be worth it if your quality of life will improve without painful periods.

Listen to your gut (you sound ready) but also talk to those that have gone through a hyster. Talking to men may be less helpful as many of them don't really appreciate how debilitating bad periods can be.

Also seek a second medical opinion.

Whatever you decide, we are here to help.

Be aware that the removal of all will not solve the PCOS since it is endocrine problem.
