Does having a hyst cause tummy to shrink??

HI,
I am scheduled to have a hyst Feb 6, 07. My abdomen looks like i am 5 months pregnant and has for a long time. I have a 11 cm fibroid causing my uterus to be large. I do need to loose some weight, but most of my weight is carried in my lower abdomen. Will this shrink after surgury? Kind of like after having a baby! Im hoping the size of my abdomen will go down and I will just have to excercise to tone it up. Thanks for replying.

i had a large fibroid that was decidedly distorting my waistline. if this is happening for you, yes, there will be a visible difference when the fibroid is removed. also, some weight loss - about 5 lbs for me.

now, i just need to continue losing the layer of fat that was on top of it...

A bigger belly was one of the symptoms that finally clued me in to the fact that something was going on (a 4.5 month pregnancy sized fibroid). I thought it was middle age spread (along with all the other symptoms). When I finally showed up at the dr. office to check it out, she was shocked at the size with no severe symptoms. I asked my DH, "Did you notice I was looking a little pregnant?" His very PC reply was, "What could I say?" and I laughed. When I retold this story at work one other teacher said she had noticed, but again, what can you say? The good news is, I am 100% back to normal with a flat belly again. My surgery was 5 months ago and I feel FANTASTIC!
