When to Have Hormone Levels Checked After Hysterectomy?

Hi Sisters. I am 8 weeks post hysterectomy. I know that I will have my hormones checked and would like to find out if BHRT is right for me. I was having perimenopause symptoms before my surgery. Since surgery I have been all over the place emotionally.

Here is my question. How long after surgery should one wait to have hormone levels checked? I have been told that it takes some time after total hysterectomy for the ovaries to recover and regain some kind of baseline. What is a realistic amount of time to wait? I'm so eager to feel better.

Because you were in perimenopause before your surgery, and because you're currently having issues that could be tied to a hormonal imbalance, I think that now would be a good time to have your levels checked; I had mine checked at two weeks post-op, and although my family doctor and I had discussed short-term HRT, it wasn't needed because my levels were found to be normal. Emotional issues at this stage can also be a consequense of antibiotics used in the surgery indiscriminately killing off the good bacteria inside your intestinal tract, which accounts for 90% of serotonin production; regular servings of probiotics from yogurt, kefir, kombucha, unpasteurized sauerkraut, or a high-quality supplement can help to restore them. Fermented soy products like tempeh or miso are also excellent sources of probiotics, and are also excellent sources of plant estrogens to help with hormonal balance; regular servings of plant estrogens from organic tofu and soy milk can also help. Hi,
I kept my ovaries but was having some perimenapause symptoms prior to surgery. I spoke to my doctor after 2 weeks and he suggested testing my hormone level's at 6 to 8 weeks so that all the effects of the surgery wouldn't cloud the results.
