Fibroid Hyster Sisters?

TPSNOW, my friboids have gotten the better of me for the second time around, so you are not alone.

11 years ago I had a myomectomy because I have a large fibroid in the back of my uterus that was causing horrible pain when I went to the bathroom. I had other large firborid as well. My gyno operated on me to remove the large ones that were causing trouble but left my uterus after I begged him to do what it took to save it. At the time he had to leave one of them. This one has caused me pain ever since. He also told me there were small fibroids all over my uterus.

Now, I am once again huge with fibroids and I am in daily pain. I am very blessed that I never bleed but the pain has started to take my life over. I go into the castle on May 23rd to have my uterus removed so I can go back to living a healthy life.

Lets just say they'll only have the best of me for 4 more weeks. As I look back I let them go to long.

Fibroid Hyster Sisters?

Hello! I am also here because of fibroids that have gotten the better of me. I have a 20 week uterus and am scheduled for an abdominal hysterectomy on June 4. I'm looking forward to relief from the heavy bleeding and being able to fit into my pants again. I'm still up in the air about keeping my cervix. I will see my doc soon for pre-op and will discuss that with her. I think she is leaning towards keeping it but I haven't made my final decision yet. My fibroids are too large for a vaginal hyst.

I have been taking Lupron Depot and my six-month course will be up right before my surgery. Lupron stops the bleeding because your body goes into a drug- induced menopause. It also shrinks the fibroids somewhat. But they go back to normal size after the course of medication. This is my second try with the Lupron, and this time they didn't shrink as much. I've finally decided I want them out! I'm very much looking forward to getting the whole thing overwith. I'm excited about being able to wear white pants without the worry. Sometimes it's the little things that mean so much!!!

I'll let you know how things progress. It looks like we are having our surgeries the same week.

Fibroid Hyster Sisters?

I wouldn't say normal but hubby had to go back to work yesterday which puts me back to work too...I am an at home mom of 4 girls...11, almost 8, 4 1/2, and almost 2. I had an abdominal with one ovary removed because it was enlarged. The incision area is still alittle tender but I don't have staples. I have internal stiches and glued on the outside. I had a large fibroid on my uterus which tilted backwards. I have to go back on Monday for a 2 weeks check up ..not sure why so soon but it may have to do with the fact that I developed a fever the day after surgery or because I was low on blood and anemic from all the heavy bleeding. How are you feeling?

Fibroid Hyster Sisters?

I, too, have fibroids w/moderate cystorectocele and enlarged uterus. But w/o pain and heavy bleeding. In fact, had depo-lupron shot 04/17 and did not have a period this month.

Hyster is primarily elective in my case because I have had recent pelvic pain but unsure if due to fibroids or existing condition of Ankylosing Spondylitis. At 47 with five boys, I'm prepared for the surgery.

Best regards,
Cynthia

Fibroid Hyster Sisters?

My surgery is scheduled 10 days from today. I'm 50 now, and have known I have at least one fibroid for at least 10 years. They saw it when I had my laparascopic tubal ligation back then. The doctor wasn't definitive at that time, just said they would "watch" it.
At my annual physical a couple months back he noticed that it was quite a bit larger. After the ultrasound they said it was 14 X 9 cm, and surgical removal along with hysterectomy was recommended. I contemplated it for awhile then decided to go ahead with it.
I was fortunate in that I didn't have heavy bleeding in recent years so other than the pressure of it now my symptoms were few.
I've not had the opportunity to discuss the fibroid situation with anyone else in my family so I appreciate getting the chance to learn more from you all.
